The Spread Eagle Tavern & Inn is a historic dining destination that offers a memorable experience. The restaurant, located in a historical building, is adorned with festive decorations during December, and the dark, moody atmosphere adds to its charm. Guests can enjoy dishes such as Brie Bites, Pasta Pinwheels, duck, elk, and delectable desserts like Apple Crisp and cheesecake. The service is exceptional, and the wine is reportedly the best. The basement is a favorite room for many, and the building's history is palpable, making it a unique and worthwhile dining choice.
The restaurant is praised for its historic ambiance, with one reviewer describing it as feeling like traveling back in time. The food is also highly regarded, with the elk and simple walleye on rice pilaf dishes receiving high praise for their delicious and melt-in-your-mouth quality. The service is attentive, and the restaurant is a popular destination for special occasions.
Reviewers have highlighted the beautifully decorated rooms, complete with antiques and memorabilia, as well as the excellent service and delicious breakfast. The restaurant's warm, inviting atmosphere and the charming courtyard garden have also been praised. While one reviewer mentioned a slight disappointment with the temperature of their meal, they noted that the delicious sauce helped with the minor issue and expressed a willingness to give the restaurant another try.
