The food was overpriced for the quality.

What a pleasant surprise. Food was excellent, server was awesome, the house margarita was delicious, and the live music on the outdoor patio was so enjoyable. It seemed like I was on vacation.

Not alot of choices. Service was so slow. Don't think I'll go back.

We used to absolutely love this restaurant. We would tell everyone who enjoys Mexican to go give it a try but the last time we went will be the last time we go. It has gone downhill over time. The food isn't what it used to be, and the portions seem to be getting smaller while the prices rise. It is worth noting that the service is always great, they are always kind and courteous which is what I give the 3 stars for!

“Battleground Taco & Bar must be in a battle with their own kitchen. They’ve got some of the shortest food-serving hours I’ve ever seen, and if you show up 40 minutes before closing, good luck — they act like you’re ruining their night. Last time I went, they flat out said they had no food. No warning, no apology, just attitude. Don’t bother unless you like being treated like a nuisance instead of a customer

I went to Battleground with very high expectations and excitement for what I had heard was an authentic Mexican restaurant.
Here’s how my experience went:
We walked on the door. It was 8 o’clock and they told us that the kitchen was closed for their dinners and we can only order off the taco menu. I wasn’t happy about it, but we went ahead and sat down anyway in the patio, which the patio was very nice.
I ordered the margarita that was on special for five dollars and we had four tacos three of the Carne Asada and one Fish taco.
When you usually go to Mexican restaurant, they offer you lime or you get lime on the side for your street tacos I got neither.
I asked the server for some lime
and by the time he brought it, my son was done with two of the tacos. They came with a Chimi churro sauce that I did not really care for usually they don’t put a sauce on Carne Asada tacos, except for the cilantro and the pico de gallo mix. I didn’t care for the way that meat was seasoned as well. The Fish taco was OK but the sauce came with was awful. I left it off.
I will say that we moved up from Houston five years ago and I’ve had better Mexican than what I expected from this restaurant. I’m also 100% Mexican. I didn’t see one Mexican working in the whole restaurant.. that should’ve gave me the red flag upfront😄
For dessert, we ordered the churros which were exceptionally bland. They looked very nice with powdered sugar but we’re very misleading with the taste we ended up having them taken off our check as they were eight dollars, and we were not gonna eat them.

Total bill for two of us with four tacos at six dollars each a margarita at five dollars. Game Mexican cook that was four dollars and churros at eight dollars with tip was almost $50 and it was totally not worth it!

This is an Americanized version. I’m not sure how they’re getting the reviews that they’re getting, but maybe it’s just my high expectations from being in Houston for so long and being Mexican as well.

The video from Facebook that brought me here was great.
The food was wonderful
This place needs to be experienced on the outdoor patio

$134 for 4 drinks and 6 tacos? It was good. Not that good though. Now I know. I could have spent far less for way better.

Came here for the first time this week. The staff was super friendly and it’s a nice space but the food was really sub-par. The guac didn’t seem fresh, the carne asada was way overcooked, the sides were underwhelming and the chips were either stale or undercooked. I’m not usually one to nit pick on the quality of the food like this, but it was kind of incredible that every element of the meal was bad - seem like lots of pre-prepared foods for convenience rather than taste. I hope they step up since fits a nice location and I want to support local restaurants, but won’t be returning for quite a while or if I hear there’s been a major change in the kitchen

I genuinely enjoy Battleground. The pozole is quite good as are their in-house beers (contact brewed at Modern Methods)
The flavors of all their food is always taste well blended. Though, moving here from out West and working in Mexico for years, I wish there was a bit more oomph (and a bit more kick).
My only real negative is their salsa Verde. It's a bit TOO tangy for my tastes and I think it could use a little more tomatillo. But to each their own.
They care about their food and that's obvious I'm every bite.

I love the menu here! Everything is so fresh and always changing. Battleground is very authentic. Aside from the menu, the service is always quick and on top of things, the restaurant is very clean and the atmosphere is warm and inviting.
