Stopped by here while at the lighthouse festival. Was sad to see Sloopys was gone but change is constant. Based on my first experience this change was for the worse.
Decor- All inside character has been gutted. Now the colors and decorations look more like a circus funhouse than a quaint lakeside pizzeria. Really missed the mark with inside colors. Was wondering where the ball pit was and the clowns were lol
Service-Extremely slow and seemingly overwhelmed. Not sure how long they have been open but on that day they seemed to be in over their heads. Staff was nice enough though, just not prepared for customers in volume.
Food-Like some other reviews stated toppings are very skimpy. Pizza was not as good as the previous owners. Whether that be due to execution, different recipes, different quality ingredients or a combination I am not sure. Also, the pizzas came out as one big piece. The lines were on the pizza but they did not press hard enough to cut it. I observed others sitting around me dealing with the same issue. Seems like a basic thing, cutting into slices but they were having issues the day I visited.
It’s tough to see a staple of Lakeside gone and I hope the best for this business. But I can’t recommend this place as of now. Maybe next season they will put out a more quality product. Although even if that happens I will order out as the inside is unbearable unless you a small child who likes a McDonald’s 80s feel color scheme. This is all just my opinion.

Great service, pizza is barely adequate, toppings were skimpy, pizza was floppy even though we ordered well done. Price was very high compared to the poor quality. Making quality pizza at a reasonable price isn’t hard, but if you’ve got a captive audience you can get away with this.

Overall good experience! I grew up going to Sloopys and defiantly was disappointed to hear they closed. However, we had dinner here for the first time over the weekend and was impressed. They have New York style pizza, and the portions are fair. I was also very impressed that they carry hot honey, as not a lot of smaller pizza chains have it.

Our party consisted of 4 people. We had the Drew Pizza, flavor was excellent. Service was very fast even though they were busy with diners and to go orders. Nice sitting area to dine inside. Will definitely return when in the area. Manager Tim came to the table to check on everything. He was very pleasant and seemed to know many of the customers coming in as he talked to them all. Waitress was from Turkey and we had a nice time taking with her when she was free.

This place is just okay. It is New York style pizza, which I generally like. The service was solid! But the pizza is overpriced considering they barely add the toppings you request. We got The Drew, one of their speciality pizzas, and the only thing that saved it was the hot honey on top because it melted over the whole thing. Otherwise, some pieces had ZERO toppings, and the pieces that did have toppings would a SINGLE pepperoni slice OR basil leaf--never both on the same slice.

We also got a mushroom pizza where the mushrooms were cut razor thin and then the smallest handful of mushrooms were put directly in the center of the pizza.

All in all, it's fine but way overpriced considering that you pay for toppings you never get.

Nice restaurant addition to Lakeside - New York style crust. Try the Drew

The pizza is very bland, not much flavor from the sauce, dough, or pepperoni. I would compare it to bad cafeteria pizza. The provolone sticks though were really good, the marinara sauce not so much.

Really disappointing though because this used to be a highlight of a vacation here.

Our large group was promptly seated and the servers were friendly. Try the pinza crust and the cheesy bread!

With few options for pizza in the area, this should not be one to try. The pizza is not done well. The amount of salt used overpowers the flavor. The pizzas were not cut well, and every piece needed a lot of extra slicing. Takeout was ordered, so the atmosphere will not be reviewed. The speed for a Friday night order was on par with most takeout places.

Vegetarian options: Customizable pizza, but I do not recommend it due to poor quality pizza.

Ruined sloopys with a terrible menu, terrible pizza, and made the inside look horrible

Terrible experience. They were out of many toppings for the pizza and then left out a topping. Then there so little toppings on the pizza and it was very bland! I would not eat there again!

Perhaps the best pizza you’ve ever had? The attention to detail, service and fresh ingredients make this place a winner. We stopped in this week and luckily only waited 10 minutes for a table…worth every second. If you’re staying or just passing through, give it shot!

New place fall well short of sloopys. Hopefully they can improve over the summer.
