My boyfriend and I went in for the first time, and let me just start off by saying the place was honestly disappointing it was so grotesque. There were gnats flying around everywhere, the silverware was dirty, and the food came out cold. The brisket wasn’t cooked and was very fatty upon arrival, and my boyfriend’s food was cold as well. It was an hour before close, and while others came in after us, they got their food before we did and theirs was hot. We couldn’t find the manager anywhere, just our server and another one up front. At that point, I just wanted to go home. I still paid and tipped, but I currently have incredibly upset stomach and all. I’m beyond disappointed and honestly disgusted.

My husband and I stopped on a whim today when we were out looking for somewhere to eat. WOW! Absolutely amazing! We have a good bbq place back home and it doesn't compare to this. We come down to Hocking Hills 1-2 times a year and I told him we will be coming back here every trip. The burrito is to die for. The coleslaw is some of the best I've had. My husband got the burnt ends sandwich and spicy bacon Mac and cheese and loved it. We had more than enough food for the both of us for under $40. You can't beat it!

What a great place to get amazing BBQ . The pulled pork and chicken had great flavor and the dark bbq sauce is what I enjoyed out of the 3 kinds. Corn casserole and greens are top notch.

We ordered take out today over half the brisket is completely fatty! I’m not sure why I even had to pay for brisket the food was cold after the wait time said to pick it up.

It's ok if you are starving. Cold Mac n cheese, old brownies, no silverware, no napkins. Brisket was old.. the best part of the visit was pulling out of the parking lot.

Best Nacho's I've ever had! Nice and easy going waitress. Cleanish place. Amazing friendly cat. And so many flies. But overall 5 stars.

Overall wasn’t a bad experience. Food was pretty good. My only qualms with our experience was that there were flies and gnats everywhere. I know one here & there is hard to avoid but there were a ton because of the bigger door open. We had to swat them the entire time we were there. Ever seen what flies do when they land in food? That’s an image I will never get out of my head. Not sure that we will be back until it’s cooler out and the flies die off.

I have been a big proponent Of Barrel and Boar since they started serving dine in and takeout. I ordered takeout yesterday in which I ordered a half slab of ribs or six ribs with sauce, some baked beans, and some coleslaw. When I got home after picking it up, I realized that I didn’t have my coleslaw or my sauce for my ribs. I called down to the restaurant and talked with the Manager in which she said she was sorry and offered to refund the coleslaw, but offered no solution to the lack of sauce for my ribs. Not to come back in and get it or anything. I was a little upset. Also, she did not refund the coleslaw like she said she was going to. This was a small order and they totally messed it up. Given no resolution on the sauce for the ribs or the refund on the coleslaw, I will not be back. Mind you this is the second time that I’ve ordered from them in two weeks. They also forgot items on that order. I don’t know what’s going on there, but it’s not good. Not a happy customer.

The atmosphere is weird, they played techno and pop during our lunch at this smokehouse. The mac and cheese was great, cornbread and hush puppies very dry and bland, the brisket was also very dry. This little place has a lot of potential but we won't be returning.

Never been here. Thought we’d stop in to try it after passing it for years. Boy, I wasn’t missing anything! First, we were greeted by a quite uninviting glance and demeanor from the waitress who seated us. She immediately asked us what drinks we wanted, and so we ordered our drinks. She brings them to us, waits to come back for us to open them (they were bottled/cans). When she returned, she notifies us that they no longer have pork or ribs—very matter-of-fact and unapologetic, like “too bad.” The only reason we stopped in was to try both of those. Had she let us know right away, instead of tricking us into opening our drinks and forcing us to spend some money, we’d have walked out.

Instead, we decided to stay since we already opened our drinks and were tired and hungry. We then wait quite some time before getting our meals. Brisket and wings were unbelievably dry, and chicken tasted like dog food.

And on top of it all, seating sucked. We were treated like we weren’t wanted there—like we weren’t regulars. It was dirty, there were gnats everywhere, the music was very much not family-friendly, and it was outrageously priced for the disgusting food we had.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I will never return and will tell everyone I know to never go there. I don’t understand all these good reviews. It’s like they are paid reviewers or something, because my experience was horrible!!!

Diners beware!!!!!!!!!!!! DON’T GO HERE!

My family was treated horribly here, they didn't have any pork or ribs, they play sexual rap songs, the floors are filthy and flies are constantly landing on your food. The waitress was very rude and short to us even when we kept trying to be kind. The brisket tasted like beef jerky. I would never visit this place again
