We arrived here 45 minutes prior to closing time on a Friday night (they close at 9pm!). We were immediately sat but waited for a long time for anyone to come greet us and take our order. I can tell you that any customers that showed up after 8:30 were treated rather rudely, and turned away by the young guy at the host desk (we were at the first table next to the host desk). The girl working there seemed to leave it up to him to talk to the later customers. Our waitress finally came and took our drinks but said she would come back and grab our dinner order. By the time she came back with drinks, if was only 35 minutes to closing. She took our order which was a pick two and then the chicken dinner with onion rings and a side salad. Food FINALLY came at 8:55 (40 minutes after being sat). My side salad came out with the food, not out first!! I would have loved to had asked for my salad earlier along with drink refills, but she never came back until the food was all ready. Never have I been somewhere that doesn't bring the side salad out first.Because of the time (as they were closing at the point) we had to scarf our food down so fast (especially me since I had to eat the salad too). Neither of us live local as we were there for a prior event, so we couldn't get to-go boxes. The onions rings that I got were terrible but the chicken and salad were both good. The chicken salad sandwich was also okay, I was told. We did eventually get drink refills because WE asked for them with our empty glasses when our food came.We felt bad being there after closing (we ate in about 20 minutes) but it was on them for taking so long to wait on us and get us food/drinks. Our waitress left a lot to be desired and messed up both of us during the check out process. I asked for the mushrooms to be left off the chicken and she charged me .99 cents for it!! When asked, that is the price to ADD mushroom. I didn't add them, I told them no mushrooms when they already came on my meal. So, I shorted her tip $1 for the cost of mushrooms that were not there. Then my cousin gave her cash and the waitress only brought back her change in bills (did not get her the coins that were owned to her back). She was in the bathroom when it came back, so could not address it with the waitress. The missing coins were almost a dollar worth, so she also shorted her $1 on her tip. I am rarely in Lancaster, but my son does live there and I can tell you I won't be back. It is a shame as I don't know of other locations that are still open. Do better with your staff Max and Erma's!

The place was clean and quiet. Whitney W is a great server, couldn't ask for better service! We had a great little meal stopping in here. 3 course combo and the club were awesome! Thanks

I don't know what all the bad reviews are about because we had great service, the food came out hot and quick. The place was busy around 1 on a Saturday. Don't let the reviews deter you from stopping by.

Laredo steak was ordered med well was microwaved because inside was pink and outside was browned with an odd smell. Very disappointing

After taking the children to an Easter Egg Hunt, I decided to drive to Lancaster so that they could experience one of my favorite childhood restaurants. I still remember earning good grades and getting rewarded with a trip to Max & Erma's and getting myself a Beetlejuice drink. Unfortunately, it seems as though all of the local locations have closed down. But, I am always up for a road trip. When we arrived, the parking lot was full. So, I figured this was a good sign. We went in and got seated right away. Customer service is excellent, and the food is just meh. We all ordered different versions of burgers. I got the BBQ Cola Burger. The server recommended making it a 3 course meal for a few extra bucks. That came with a salad and a cookie. Unfortunately, the salad was the best part of my meal. The Caesar dressing was phenomenal, and the breadstick was a nice touch. My burger lacked seasoning. It was as though they relied heavily on the sauce, and the sauce was very underwhelming. The fries weren't seasoned, so I mixed ketchup and mayo to make them edible. The chocolate chip cookie didn't disappoint. The kids loved the Beetlejuice drink, especially the gummy worms. Sadly, we could've gotten better burgers for cheaper at Mickey D's. But, at the end of the day, my children and I got to make a memory. Our server was amazing, so that was another plus. I doubt we will return anytime soon. BBQ Cola Burger 1-5=1.5. Fries 1-5=1. Caesar Salad 1-5=5! Chocolate Chip Cookie 1-5=3. Customer Service 1-5=5!

Totality amazed that this iconic place still have a couple that still exist. The one we went to in Lancaster is owner owned and hasn’t changed a bit.Restaurant looks the same in and out. The only thing I noticed was the Erma burgers weren’t on the menu anymore but still there under a different name. Probably a license issue. We really missed them when they closed all over and now we have one just a few miles awayParking: All around the building. Tons of spotsWheelchair accessibility: No stairs or curbs

Food is very good, but a little too pricey for what you get. Appetizers are way over priced, but if you are a rewards member, there are deals to take the sting out of the cost. The cheese skewers are amazing. The best I've never had. There is a high turnover in the staff, servers come and go at this restaurant more than any other I have ever witnessed.

Service was not good at all. Wanted to have our drink but the server kept on passing by. When it came to paying the bill we had to ask another girl to take it up because he kept walking past us again saying just give me a second. To sum it up, the Food was excellent, Waiter was not.
