Jalapenos Mexican Grill - Lima

I have been going here since it opened. I can not begin to explain my disappointment. Customer service was atrocious and the food was bland. First person was open mouth breathing on my food, second person rolled my burrito before I was done ordering. It took all three staff members to roll one burrito. Already down to a 3 star experience. We get home and can't pick up our food. After reassembling the patchwork tortillas the only flavor in the entire thing is onion. Peppers and onions means one sliver of pepper and an entire onion. Reaching for the queso to surely save the day we discover it's just warm yellow cream cheese. The barabacoa did have some nice flavor to it but the one to three scoop ratio of meat to rice didn't give it a single chance. One times an off day but this is the 3rd and worst negative experience I've had. Hope management can get it's act together this used to be one of Lima's best establishments.

Love Jalapeños. Been a customer for years. Food is always good. Services is typically good. However, tonight 12/22/25 at 7pm, I was told they were totally out of white rice. I find that hard to believe and it being more likely the staff not wanting to make more. Worst service I have ever received at the Shawnee location.

I usually come here every week. Have been for years now. Lately the burritos have gotten smaller and smaller. This last time might be the LAST time. I used to constantly tell ppl to go there cause the size of the burritos will blow your mind. It was their 'thing. It USED to be worth the money, now there's not really 'that thing' to keep you coming back. Most unfriendly employees in years. They almost make you feel like you're imposing. They should definitely hire a new crew! Now, there's no difference between the Big Burrito and the smaller one. Same size. Depends on the employee, no standard anymore. Customer service is half the job. If employees don't want to be there, go work elsewhere. You're running longtime customers off. Go back to the old way jalapenos! See you then.

LOVE this place!! I lived in Lima all my life and have ate for years, then I moved 4 years ago and miss it so much. Every time I come back to visit I have to eat here. I always say I wish I could buy a franchise and bring one to Michigan with me!!!

This place always has its ups and downs. Never can you expect the same taste or flavor day to day. One day it'll be the best, the next it's not. Depends on the day/workers who make the food!

I have always loved going to Jalapenos, however it has gone downhill, a long with the service. It has really declined! I stopped today for fish tacos. THEY PRECOOKED THE FISH! Needless to say it wasn't very good. She said it had been cooked 5 minutes prior.......it had to have been longer. 😢

The place honestly has potential but the food is always the same. Looks and tastes like it's sat out for a long period of time and the tortilla chips are constantly stale and the queso is runny too. The countertop always looks filthy and has food caked up on it floors are filthy too behind the counter and in the dining room too

Food was good, however, the service was AWFUL. The young lady with dark hair and nose ring was treating her coworkers so terribly that I could barely believe what I was hearing; should be ashamed that she even considered talking to her colleagues like that. The gentleman who took my order wasn’t exactly friendly either but, working with someone like that.. yeah, I get it. Many others have mentioned this in their reviews, but this place has had a significant dip in quality over the years with the folks they’re hiring and I think the owner should reevaluate the ones who they allow to be customer facing.

Ate lunch here today. The food was ok. The work area was filthy. The whole back food prep and serving area had dirt and food scraps on everything. The hygiene of a couple of the workers was less than desirable. Probably will never be back. Filthy place

Great food! Big portions! Food always looks and tastes fresh. This is my go to restaurant of this type.
I'm going to Jalapenos before Chipotle any day
