I had Shafers 2 times, maybe 3 times at Max’s trader days and water dog races. Every time it was delicious and piled high with smoked meats! The owners and their daughter were super friendly, pleasant conversations were had every time I was at the window. Can’t wait for the Maurer Dog to officially be on the menu!! 😋

The food is great. I don’t get a lot of smoke flavor from the meat, but it’s excellent quality and the bbq sauce is fantastic. I think the portions are exactly right for the price. I’ve tried several of their desserts and I’ve come to love the banana pudding. The peach cobbler was very disappointing. It’s definitely not inspired by a southern recipe. Some lumps of cinnamon cake stuffed into a cup with slices of cooked peaches. But I can forgive that sin because everything else is awesome.

Had the Smoked Pulled Pork Nachos, not good. Ingredients from most to least were, chips laid flat, then a mixture of bbq sauce, sour cream, and some type of cheese sauce(this mixture could be described as a “soup”), and then the pork( about enough to cover the palm of my hand). None of the ingredients were tasty on their own, very bland and not appealing. The flavor of the pork was very disappointing especially when “Smoked Meats” are part of the restaurant name. I always try to support local small businesses instead of the chain businesses, but it sure is difficult when I’m served something like this.

Do yourself a favor and get the ribs,hell anything their serving up is outstanding. Just make sure your get extra because it’s leaves the table as soon as it’s set down!

Everything about this place is wonderful. We tried the pulled pork Mac and cheese and the potatoes which were on special today. We also tried the Dubai strawberry Cups and some Dubai chocolates as well a cotton candy lotus drink. Everything was so amazing! I had almost finished my recommended drink before we returned home! We think the pulled pork and Mac and cheese is the best we have ever had in the history of forever and why we didn’t get more for later I am not quite sure but we will have to come right back! Go get you some!! I’m also a fan of the Michigan cherry chips and you can never find those so what an awesome discovery.

I just ate from here I ordered the Mac and cheese bowl with chicken and the brisket platter. I was so excited because we have NO GOOD bbq place and I'm so disappointed spent $33 and the food was barely warm not much flavor in the meats at all the only thing that saved it was the sweet baby rays they included. Also the potato's I ordered tasted like they was made from a box. I'm so disappointed ☹️...

I went there just for a craving and i got more than i could ask for !! everyone was so sweet and helpful and they even have all kinds of dubai chocolate and salads and honey honestly i was blown away by this place. definitely deserves more attention!!
