I had Shafers 2 times, maybe 3 times at Max’s trader days and water dog races. Every time it was delicious and piled high with smoked meats! The owners and their daughter were super friendly, pleasant conversations were had every time I was at the window. Can’t wait for the Maurer Dog to officially be on the menu!! 😋
This place is some of the best barbecue I’ve ever had. I lived in Georgia for 20 years and had a lot of barbecue and this place definitely stacks up to all that I’ve ever eaten.
The food is great. I don’t get a lot of smoke flavor from the meat, but it’s excellent quality and the bbq sauce is fantastic. I think the portions are exactly right for the price. I’ve tried several of their desserts and I’ve come to love the banana pudding. The peach cobbler was very disappointing. It’s definitely not inspired by a southern recipe. Some lumps of cinnamon cake stuffed into a cup with slices of cooked peaches. But I can forgive that sin because...
