A year ago, we ordered our wedding cake and cupcakes from Cakes by the Lake, and they were a hit! We knew if/when we needed sweet treats again, we would be ordering from them. (I forgot to leave a review last time.)
Moving forward to this year, we needed those sweet treats for our baby shower. I was sad to see the store front closed and held off on looking for another bakery, and I am glad I did because they were up running through a different location!
The baby shower was this past weekend, and as soon as people saw the cupcakes, they immediately asked if the cupcakes were from the same place we got them for the wedding and had dessert first! Some had several! LoL
The flavors are so delicious! I was a professional baker/cake decorator for 15 years, and they are by far THE BEST flavors I have ever had. (Lemon is the biggest hit with our crew)!

We are absolutely thrilled with the amazing job Ryan did at our wedding! From the moment we had our first tasting, we knew we were in for a treat. The cake not only looked stunning but tasted incredible—fluffy, moist, and perfectly balanced in flavor.
The attention to detail was impressive and was a true work of art. On top of that, the selection of desserts he provided was delicious and a hit with all our guests!

I called 4 days early to order my cake I sent an email with the inspo picture as well as called the store. A day before pickup I called to check on what time I could pick it up and they told me they had no record of my order. But they assured they would have the cake ready for pick up by the time I need it. The day comes it gets picked up. And it’s awful. The design was very rushed and the words were sloppy. A 5 year old could write the same. I called and asked if I could bring it up to have it fixed and all the designers had left for the day. They said the only thing they could do is refund me if I bring the cake back. Since it was a birthday party that wasn’t really an option. I’m incredibly disappointed with this bakery I don’t see my self ever coming back or recommending it to anyone in the future. I’ve included the inspiration picture for reference.

The cake design was amazing. Five stars for the whole concept. The cake itself, for us had way too much frosting. I provided a picture for your own opinion. The cake was chocolate but in between was a thick layer of frosting. Unfortunately we ate the cake but left the rest. We would like to have had more cake. The cake was good, the icing no.

Yesterday I pre ordered a edible image and it came out great! However when I went to go pick it up today they wanted me to pay again and told me it was 12 dollars but when I paid for it less than 24 hours ago it was 15 dollars unacceptable for any business to do but not to give me back the difference. it doesn't matter if its $3 or $30 it seems like they don't know what's going on in there own cake bakery we also asked if they would make the cake an put the image on it yet to find out 4 days isn't enough time to make a half sheet cake with no bells an whistles and that shows me they have no problems turning away business
When a giant eagle or Meijer can do it in one day
This is not a company that goes out of its way for the little orders we will not be doing business with company anymore
To add when I picked up the image they didn't have it in anything to keep it safe I had to ask for something to put it in
The workers where very polite but that doesn't make a business. service is key an doing more for the customer I hope they can learn from there mistakes .

i think that the overall taste of the cake and frosting was great! we have used them a couple times but this last time i was not impressed by the art work or the cake. i asked for a specific design and was given frosting that was a blended rather than layers. in addition i ordered a cassata cake and there were no real strawberries in it. it was all strawberry gel. Their website has listed that it contains real strawberry’s. I did ask for a tall cake but i wanted the frosting like the two tier below. it is more blended than layered and straight. my husband picked up and didn’t know what i asked for. it ended up looking pretty but just was not what i had ordered. I understand accepting the cake but the no strawberries thing was extremely frustrating. i emailed them to ask if this was typical and had zero response. i don’t expect anything but an explanation and apology would have been nice. I would likely not order a cassata cake again

The strawberry cake they made for our wedding was AMAZING! We showed them a picture of what we liked and they were able to recreate it perfectly. They were open to any and all ideas we had and just overall incredible. Thank you so much for adding to our special day!
If you haven’t tried the cakes by lakes fantastic cakes and deserts you are truly missing out. They are absolutely the best. Alway have Macaroons ready everytime I walk in and they are to die for! Would recommend all of there treats so any event or holiday!

The order was easy to place and ready on time. The cashier was friendly enough. However, the cake decor was not as nice as we had anticipated and for $70. Stinks that it was difficult to read the writing. The pearls (or if you don’t have something like it, maybe white frosting dots?) were left out which was a big point of the “pearl” song lyric. Definitely missed the mark there. The frosting was heavy and tasted only of shortening. Also, when we picked up we were taken back by the odd smell in the shop. And the open box we had to transport it in..no covering? just odd.
