We had an unexpected long wait.
Even though our breakfast was part of staying at the hotel, it was unacceptable.

We were guests at the Lafayette and figured we would be stuck paying for Breakfast since there was no continental breakfast offered when we made our hotel reservations on line.
Imagine our surprise when we received re d coupons for the traditional breakfast at the gun room.
We arrived. We're immediately seated, drinks ordered and coupons explained.
Food was exce

Waited and waited and waited and waited for our breakfast, finally gave up and left
The omlette was good and the rye toast was good. My husband had eggs definitely runny.
The waitress was busy. Difficult to get some things.

We were served omelets made to order with the cheese not melted. When we explained to the waitress, she asked what she could do about it. We asked to have a bit of money taken off our bill. She then said she would have to ask the manager. The manager came and looked clueless and said she would have to ask the chef. I’m not sure when the chef became the manager to determine any compensation for a poorly cooked meal. They all met in the back kitchen and then said that because we seated ourselves that was the problem. No, the problem was your inability to make an omelette and serve people in an appropriate manner. Everyone who came into the restaurant was seating themselves. If that was not proper, then you should’ve posted a sign to please wait to be seated. The food was highly mediocre. I would never eat here again and certainly never stay at this hotel again. The hotel is average at best, looking very rundown, and the staff is lackluster. Stay at the Blennerhasset if you want good food, competent staff, and to be treated with respect.

Really nice
I’m sorry but I just can’t like this restaurant. We’ve been in for dinner and we have been in for breakfast. Neither one was good enough to eat here again. The history of the hotel is really interesting but that’s about where the allure ends for me. The lobby smells like mildew and the carpet in the restaurant however nostalgic with its little sternwheelers on it is gross.

Beef liver is hard to find and when it's done just right it a mouth watering joy to behold. Staff are extra accomodating.

Called in Thursday told him we would like to make a reservation for the restaurant. We had 16 people to come they said no they couldn’t make a reservation but there’d be no problem. Come right on ahead showed up there today and they said no they couldn’t wait on that many people and we had everybody 16 people standing or waiting.
Great price; received a discount from staying at the Lafayette Hotel. The good was great; the service was prompt and friendly.

Breakfast was good and good price on the bill. Poached eggs done to perfection and wall decor that makes your feel that this place is special. I like the steernwheeler pictures, the muskets and the wood work on the trim.
