I went here for the first time as I was told it was a great spot. I don't get what all the praise is about, I had the Mole Poblano. Both the chicken and the small, paper thin tortillas that came with it were dryer than toast even with the bland mole sauce coating it. And the portion size did not justify the price tag of $22.
The service was fast, the atmosphere was different with the decorations and dimly lit room we were seated in and there is some cool artwork on the walls.
In all there are much better mexican resrtaurants in the area, I probably won't come back. Did not tip as the bone dry overpriced meal did not justify it.
Disappointing.

I first tried Monarca on a whim during a short lunch break from work. I got the Maduro special. It was so good! The rice all by itself was flavorful, the carnitas were juicy and tender, the plantains were not too soft and seasoned well. I've also had the margaritas from there and they are good.
The atmosphere is great for the kind of restaurant it is. The music is not hatefully loud, and the service is fine.
If you go, which you should, you will not be disappointed. Family owned business of people who really care about what they're doing.

My Steak Fajita Quesadilla was very dry and kind of bland, with no discernable cheese on it. It tasted better after I asked for some cheese sauce.

The ambiance is lovely, but the food is pricey for Mexican; please be prepared for that.

This place is a gem. I'm always surprised there isn't a line out the door.
The servers are always pleasant and cheerful and helpful. The food is amazing. Everything we've ordered has been great.
Seriously, go here and get some good Mexican food.

I had BBQ pork street tacos, and they were excellent. The margaritas were excellent. Service was really good. The only downside was noise. I have PTSD and the wait staff gathered behind me and started banging on drums and tambourines while singing Happy Birthday to a patron. It was a nice gesture, but the surprise scared the heck out of me.
