Not surprised. Mediocre food and outrageous prices. The original Slyman’s downtown has made a mistake franchising this. Only St.Clair location is worth it.

The best kosher corned beef and pastrami. Piled high. Tasty. Delicious!!! I drove all the way from Buffalo to go back here!! Definitely worth the drive

I ordered a cornbeef sandwich from Slyman's in Mentor it was not good at all. The Slyman's in Cleveland is better by a Longshot. It was too lean and dried out! I'll choose the one In Cleveland over Mentor anytime!!

First time coming to this establishment, it was kind of empty when I walked in but I believe that is due to the time and it was tax free weekend everyone was out shopping. The staff were friendly and food came out in a timely manner. The vegetables were delicious and I am sorry to say were surprised because some restaurants green beans are usually hard and crunchy with no flavor. The mashed potatoes were good but me personally didn’t like the gravy, it was giving me thanksgiving stuffing flavors. I also had the Slyman’s Fries, I can’t remember what the white sauce was but it was delicious, it was the star of the whole show. The cosmo I had was delicious too, I had a baby buzz from it. I would recommend this place!

Service was not great and there was only one other couple in there when we arrived. Had to request fresh pickles because we were given pickles that looked like they were frozen then thawed or sat out for days!!! You could break your teeth on the overcooked onion rings!! The Lite Reuben was tasty until I bit into a hunk of plastic food wrap!!! Sorry Mentor Slyman's, you lost our business and any and all referrals.

We used the backdoor entrance. There is parking in front, but more in back. My wife had a Diet Pepsi and a Classic Burger. I tried the light Corned Beef on Rye Toasted. By the time I properly tipped the waitress it cost me around $31+change for two sandwiches. The one waitress was covering both front door and back door guests adequately. I can't believe they charge an extra fifty cents for toasting your sandwich. (I sure hope Subway doesn't start this!) I thought the light Corned Beef was okay, but not exceptional. My wife gave a thumbs up to the Burger she had. I was actually told that I could take her back there again! That's actually quite a compliment from someone who used to run restaurants for a living. All in all I got full and that's the main objective of any restaurant visit. Just after all the media hype about Slymans coming to Mentor, I was expecting a little more Yum!?

I’m sorry to say but the quality of the food has gone down tremendously. I used to love Slyman’s. Their corned beef was the best. I’m not sure how the downtown location is now, but I have given the Mentor location several times to get it right and I’m sad to say I have been disappointed each time. For the price I’m paying, my food should be good. What happened to the corned beef? It’s disgusting now, first time it was too dry, this time it’s grisly and fatty… like wth? I got a Reuben…. Smh, the bread was not toasted, the thousand island dressing was gross, my onion rings were horrible. Needless to say I was just completely dissatisfied. Sad.

Had lunch with friends today. Their sandwiches were huge. Two of my friends took half of their meal home. I had a Southwest chicken salad and it was excellent. The waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. I will return with my wife because I know she will love it too!
$8.99 for burnt onion rings was the first negative part of our visit. The Slyman burger was mediocre at best, and definitely NOT worth the $14+ price. Then $3.99 more if you want fries. Save your money.

Delicious sandwiches! Servers were very friendly and service was great!

The cornbeef does not taste like the deli's in Cleveland! It tastes like boiled lunch meat from Giant eagle, I was so disappointed ? I'll stick with Vienna's on Carnegie their meat is top notch!

whenever im in town i love to stop by a "Cleveland Staple" and boy is corned beef a staple! I haven't been to a Slymans location since college so i was excited to pop in. The sandwiches were just as i remember, piled high and tasty! I got a lite corned beef sandwich and was still unable to finish it! Everyone else also enjoyed their meals and this location is closer to family when i visit so cant wait to return.

Visited Slyman's in Mentor last week for a take out order and was very disappointed. Ordered two large corned beef sandwiches, one regular and two fries. The fries were nothing but mush swimming in grease - had to throw them out as they were too gross to eat. Charged us 50 cents for each piece of Swiss cheese that was so thin you could see through it. Meat was so chewy I had to spit out half of it because I kept chewing and chewing and it wouldn't break down due to grisly meat. Insult to injury was that they charged $1 to toast one of the sandwiches! Bill was $55 and I can see why there was not one single person in the restaurant and it was 12:45 pm - lunchtime. Young lady working take out was very friendly which is the only good thing I have to say. Will not be going back which is too bad because it is lovely inside.
