“Everything was fantastic. The atmosphere is fantastic, the food is amazing, the outside patio where we played music is a great spot for people to hangout. The sound engineer was easy to work with and provided a great mix and sound for the patio setting. The alcohol selection was enormous, and all the servers and bartenders were friendly and quick. Definitely somewhere I will be going back to with the family to eat and somewhere our band High Valley Ramblers are looking forward to returning to play!“

“We held a private alumni event for The Singing Men of Ohio at The Side Bar last weekend and it was incredible. Not only was the staff so amazing to work with leading up to the event, but the price was unmatched and the space itself was perfect. The bartenders working that night were incredible as well. We fit about 150 people in the venue and it was completely private to our group. It provided for us an elevated event that was suitable for our alumni to interact with current members of the group. I have a feeling Side Bar will become really popular among students and alumni alike and be around for some time. All weekend, our alumni were commenting how much they loved the event at Sidebar and hoped we returned there. If you're looking for a great place for students and alumni to gather, check this place out. 15/10!“

“My wife went to school at Ohio University... and we were in town with 5 other friends for four days enjoying the local roads (on our motorcycles) and enjoying the town every afternoon and evening.

A very welcoming local bar with great bartenders and great drink choices at great prices. We visited several times over the four days we were there.

“The Crystal was a good bar to hang out in. They let you bring food in which is a big plus. We found a little loaf area where there was enough seating for a big group of people. There was Foosball and pool and some other games around. Crowded but not packed like the bar next door.“

“Highly recommend New Straitsville Moonshine Co. The atmosphere is very relaxing . We hosted our annual Christmas party at the NS Moonshine Co this past weekend and it was perfect with plenty of room for everyone. Rich Stephanie and Tonya made us feel so welcome the entire night helping us with anything we needed and was very quick with serving such a big crowd. We definitely look forward to spending many more weekends at the New Straitsville Moonshine Co.

“I spent a night going around to all the bars around uptown Athens and found that The Union is where all the queers and indie folks hang out (which is exactly my kind of place). Also, their bathroom has fancy toilet paper, like charmin or somethings. Love this place. Also the bartender rendell is very kind.“

“Seriously the BEST bar in Athens! I was there this weekend for Parent's Weekend and went to all the bars it seemed! Your place was the best, loved all the 80's music!!!!“

“Please make an effort to cover the other brick walls in the same coating you have in the new part of the bar, because the writing everywhere else in the bar indicates that this action is okay. Some skinny dude with a tribal tattoo on his calf and a scruffy mustache threw my sharpie outside yesterday because he “caught” us writing our names on the walls. It’s everywhere in the bar, so I don’t think the staff should be trained expect drunk college student not to do it. This guy was just on some sort of power trip and wanted to be rude. He very easily could’ve just asked us not to do write on the walls, and we would’ve respected that. Like I said, the wall in the new part of the bar with that coating on it is free of sharpie/can easily be cleaned, so maybe consider doing that on ALL the walls to avoid your staff making stupid decisions like this one in the future. We visited the CI twice while in town. Drank many beers and played many games of pool. A very welcoming local bar with great bartenders and great drink choices at great prices.

The ONLY issue was that the men's bathroom was in AWFUL shape both days that we visited. VERY dirty and stunk to high heaven... as if it hadn't been cleaned in months. It's summer break and there were no students around either time we were there... really just the seven of us... so no reason for it to be that nasty.

We will be repeat customers.“
