Johnson's Real Ice Cream, New Albany

We just had brunch at a nearby cafe and passed by the sign so I thought to come by and try it out. Although there are signs on Main Street, the shop itself is located at the back of the building by the carpark.
Aside from the scoops, they also sell ice cream cakes and tubs to take home. The store does have seating inside but I opted for eating on the go.
I grabbed the buckeye fever, which was a chocolate and peanut butter flavored ice cream. It was nice. In hindsight, I should have asked to try the different flavours to pick out something I would have enjoyed more.

Always crave Johnson’s when we’re in the area! We’ve eaten at a few different locations but the New Albany store is our usual haunt. There’s a nice patio nearby. I’ve gotten the Blue Sky with a waffle cone the last couple times and really enjoy it. Service is always exceptional!

It was impressive to see such a strong work ethic among the younger staff. Their professionalism and kindness made my visit memorable. I experienced excellent service and had a wonderful experience! The bonus was the delicious cinnamon flavor!

Customer service is absolutely horrific. If I could give my experience a zero I would. When we walked in to order the kids behind the counter were less than helpful even after mentioning it was our first time in. The girl behind the counter was beyond rude and paid no attention while we ordered. She was more worried about taking a picture of her friend that walked in for her story, than taking our order correctly. She showed blatant disregard for us and it was extremely off putting. I had to repeat my order back to her almost 10 times since she wasn’t paying attention each time I told her. Then, to top off this horrific experience the portion sizes were minuscule and one of the items in our order wasn’t even correct. Very disappointing and would not recommend if you want to be treated like a respected and valued customer.

So many choices! It was hard to decide, but I opted for peanut butter chocolate. It was super flavorful, with big ribbons of soft peanut butter in a creamy smooth chocolate ice cream. Put it in a chocolate dipped waffle cone (which was one of the best waffle cones I have ever had!) and it is heavenly!

Found this place Saturday evening looking for a new ice cream place to try with my son. He had the s’mores and I tried the buckeye fever! Fantastic! Excellent service! Came back today with my daughter and they impressed yet again! She got the blue sky and lemon sorbet. I went for the coconut chip this time. Did not disappoint! And the young men working there tonight were just as nice as the staff the night before! My daughter should have gotten a cup instead of a cone. Ice cream on sorbet doesn’t quite stick together very well especially stepping outside when it’s hot and immediately starts melting. Well it hit the ground. I went back in to purchase her a cup with the blue sky that didn’t stick and they didn’t even charge me for it. That is rare these days! They definitely have our returning business not just for the awesome ice cream but for their standards and what their customers mean to them. I found out it was started in Bexley and family owned! Will be back to support them often!

Amazing ice cream and service!

I’d been wanting to take my little girl here after our weekly library visit. ….Unfortunately, the experience was tainted. The lady in the front was nice and the location was very cute. I had anticipated returning to try other flavors. I purchased a single, raspberry cheesecake ice cream for my little one. She couldn’t eat it all, so mommy went in to finish the last few scoops. In my first scoop, I found a few random sprinkles.. we hadn’t ordered sprinkles.. Two scoops later, to my dismay, was a HAIR. Not my hair, nor my daughters hair. Needless to say, I left very disgusted… hoping my toddler had not ingested a stray hair that I did not notice.
