Johnson's Real Ice Cream, New Albany

Staff is always friendly and patient with my kids. They are always willing to answer their questions. Definitely a great place to go for a sweet treat. Plenty of flavors to choose from and a really good assortment of options. Highly recommend.

Delicious Ice Cream. Fair Prices. Disappointing Service

This was my third visit to the newer Johnson's locations and as a fan of this local legend, I was thrilled to see them branch out and expand to serve other areas of Columbus. The original location is always a treat and has never let me down with any aspect of their business.

Johnson's delivers a quality, locally made product at reasonable prices, and that is why I have been choosing them over larger chains and their Cincinnati-based competition.

However, I have been to the location in Dublin, Grandview, and now New Albany, and have found all 3 to be seriously lacking in the area of customer service. Granted, all stores seem to be regularly staffed with younger, High School or College-age employees, but the guest experience in each has been an utter failure.

Sadly, there never seems to be a manager or owner present or any semblance of a training program that defines the concept of customer service. The staff at all three locations I visited also don't seem to have ever experienced any form of hospitality ever in their own in the wild as a customer elsewhere. You know how it works...it's not hard.

We were not greeted when we entered by either employee as both were talking and leaning against the counter. Neither acknowledged us to ask if we had ever been in, if we would like to be helped, or to try anything. My milkshake took a painfully long time to complete, but it was delicious. My friend's ice cream was a nice dip, but there was no product down in the cone. The dining room, while mostly clean, was in a bit of a disorganized state and the tables had not been wiped or chairs organized recently. Finally, neither employee said goodbye when we got up to leave, as both had their faces buried in their phones.

It is sad and perhaps I am demanding too much, but this I have had this same exact experience at all three newer locations but never in Bexley. Does Johnson's have a training program? Is there anyone with service experience involved in hiring or managing these stores? I would love for this expansion to succeed for them, but I am not optimistic and will most likely not return.

Went to the new Johnsons Ice Cream in Pickerington and wow I was extremely disappointed in my shake or milk I should say! I have never had a milkshake be so liquid. It was like drinking milk. Very disappointed after spending $7 in a shake!

Luke welcomed us in and gave us several tastes to help us decide which flavor to choose. He was efficient and friendly. The ice cream was creamy and delicious! We were excited to find several dairy free options. The store is clean, bright and cheerful. First time tonight, but we will return.

I kept seeing this place listed on the Ohio ice cream trail and voted one of the best, but there isn't one near where I live. We passed one today and had to stop to see what the hype was about. Not only can I say its worth all the hype and more, it has put my previous favorite to shame. The selection was amazing and I had a hard time trying to narrow down my choices. So many delicious flavors to choose from. I ended up with a scoop of butterscotch toffee and a scoop of cinnamon. I thought I was going to hurt myself between the speed of shoveling it in and my eyes rolling to the back of my head. My husband had the banana cream pie, which tasted just like the pie, and Columbus crunch. He loved both. My daughter had mint chocolate chip and cookie dough and can't choose a favorite between the two.
Make this place a destination. You won't regret it.

Went there for the first time. We tried the butter pecan and birthday cake! Both were absolutely delicious and staff was friendly!

I have had ice cream before that just taste like any others. THIS ice cream though!!!! Doesn’t taste like anything I’ve had before. Best place ever

Real Ice Cream and good selection with good service

Great ice cream, fast service. Space to sit inside and outside. Lots of parking. Many different flavors, available to go and cakes as well.
