This has been a crazy extended weekend. Shary and I drove out to Lorain for the eclipse and started having mystical experiences before we were even halfway to the Ariel Hotel. For example, Shary saw a road sign for an attraction that kind of reminded us of that Frank Lloyd Wright house, Falling Waters. She plops that into the GPS and BAM! GPS says turn right at the next exit. So we get to see that. On the way there we pass a place we went white water rafting! Great memories. And of course, Falling Waters is rad. Anyway, we get to the hotel and the weekend just gets stranger. So fun. Everyone is all spazzing out about the eclipse. We meet a clothing designer. Whatever. So yeah. Back to this spot. Eclipse done. Fancy dinner for us vacationers? An internet search suggested this spot would be worth the 25 min drive from Lorain. And it was. Oysters. Cooked dates. Good drinks. Very good end to an extended weekend!

This was a really overrated restaurant. Pricey and pretentious and generally unmemorable meal and beverage options. The saving grace for us was the ambiance because we ate al fresco.

Went for my birthday. The servers were very nice. Food tasted great! I loved the atmosphere. Had a good birthday cake after my meal! Would recommend to my friends ?

Only our second time eating at this establishment and it was just as pleasant as the first time. Although we didn't make reservations, they were able to accommodate us. Food came in a timely manner...raw oysters were to die for, and we should have ordered the dozen.

Not a very welcoming place to walk into. We will try it again, hoping that the second time improves on our first impression. Service was average at best, bartender was having a day apparently.

Portion Size? One of the menu specials was Prime Rib with no mention of the serving size for $42, and a regular menu item was a bone in strip, also with no mention of size, for $49. I opted for the bone in strip and by no means, in my opinion, was it a $49.00 steak. It was 1/2" to 3/4" thick at best. The cooking temp and taste were fine, but for $49 it was a bit tough and I expected a better steak at that price point. The accompanying brussel sprouts were inconsistent, some had a really nice char, others with none. The drinks and the service were great and I'll take the blame for not asking about serving size before ordering.

What I ordered was marginal. Ravioli sauce was thick. I definitely will try again. The wait staff was awesome and my martini was

Delicious, well prepared dishes, from simpler fare to more complex entrees. Relaxing atmosphere has either a well appointed dining room or you might enjoy the more casual, pub type bar with booths and televisions (sports oriented). Every trip to Bistro 83 we've made has been great. The staff is friendly and upbeat- always available, and never 'smothering' while doing that. This is a great choice for a good meal and enjoying your dinner partner(s).The Scallops with risotto are heavenly.

Well, gave it a try based on many recommendations. Staff was friendly and atmosphere was pleasant. While the food was good, it was grossly overpriced. $11 for a basic spring mix salad and $37 for four scallops with risotto. And after all that, 7pm on a Saturday, they ran out of Creme Brulée. Overall, it was worth trying but I fought we’ll be back.

Asked for a simple BBQ chicken breast and green beans - order came out incorrect with cheesy fries and jalapeño’s. It took 2 servers to correct the order and had to request the correction on the final bill. Food was nothing spectacular.
