I can't give a food rating as we've never eaten here. We stopped in to have a couple of drinks to round out date night. The atmosphere at the bar was great, lots of laughs and everybody talking to everyone including us even though we were outsiders. I ordered the smoked maple Manhattan and it was fantastic. My husband has his usual Jack and Coke. There were people eating at the bar. The portions looked generous and the food smelled great. We met the owner and promised him we'd be back. EDIT: My husband and I went back to eat. He got the John's Burger minus the blue cheese and said it was a really good burger, very juicy. He also got fries which were good! I got the Black Peppercorn Burger with a side salad and both were amazing! Portions were good sizes as well. We sat at the bar for another drink before heading home and I just have to say it's a comfortable place to hang out at.

The kitchen was behind by an hour. We didn't mind waiting for our food but when we got it was served staggered, some of our food was very cold, the hamburgers were ordered Medium well but we're dripping blood and the pasta sauce had formed a film from where it had sat for a while and our steak sandwhiches had very little meat. It had more bread than meat. The drinks, fries, and chips were delicious,

I didn't even notice until a couple days afterwards because I kept the receipt in my wallet. But I was charged roughly 20 to 25% more for the food I ordered. The prices on the menu are not what you actually pay. What's up with this? That's dishonest and unethical. I know inflation is high, but at least be more upfront about it. I feel like I was ripped off and cheated. The burger I ordered was listed as $16, and I paid $19.76. I don't intend on going back. How am I supposed to trust them? The food and service were both good, but why would I pay over $20 for a burger after tip and tax?

The building and atmosphere were great. It appears there is a lot of history to this place but did not find any historical facts on the website. After our meal finally came (waiting 1 hour and 13 min) we enjoyed the meal and received the bill with was higher than the prices on the menus. After talking to a couple different people we finally received the reason being if we paid with credit the price is higher. However, after pressing on the reason for the higher price, we finally were provided the bills showing the difference. So in short had we paid with cash it would have been the increased price no matter. I think this was handled very wrong and needs to be stated prior so there is no question. I would think this practice could have legal lines that are possibly crossed with not showing the reason for the increase exposing the options for paying cash or credit. However, our waitress was very good.

Tavern food up several notches! I had loaded baked potato soup with crispy pancetta, crispy salmon belly beurre blanc, chorizo risotto balls with green goddess sauce and short rib steak sandwich along with a gin craft cocktail and cinnamon sugar rimmed cider. All are highly recommended. Casual dining at it's best
