in comparison to the other coffee shop (slow train) in town, this one is far more chill. due to being smaller by square feet, it's also more quiet. there is usually at least one vegan muffin from philomena and bagels galore. the drinks aren't the best but not the worst either.

I first want to start off by saying how great of a job Maggie did! Line was full of people but she made sure to greet and take the time to listen to each customers order with full attention to detail. I got the strawberry matcha with a blueberry muffin and was PHENOMENAL!! Boyfriend got a lemonade and the bacon egg and cheese bagel with avocado and tomato and was so glad he got two! Atmosphere is beautiful and gives off an authentic modern coffee look. Amazing staff and even more amazing coffee

Fantastic chai latte and I love the seasonal options here, such as the ginger bread cookie latte. Very calm and nice ambience, great for studying/working or overall a good place to meet up with a group and collaborate.

I love the local and slow train. The coffee is great, I love the pastries, and the ambiance is wonderful. Every time I go I order an everything bagel with bacon, egg, cheese, avocado, and chipotle mayo. Unfortunately, every time my bagel, egg, and bacon are all frozen in the middle. If this problem is to be fixed, it would be 5 stars across the board.

I like the atmosphere of Slow Train (same owner, different location) more, but evidently so does everyone else because it’s always packed. The Local is pretty reliable to have spaces and quick turnaround. The wifi is less reliable, though.

Loved getting to visit this cute spot in Oberlin! Having to go downstairs makes it feel like such a tucked away hidden gem. I had a rosemary + sea salt bagel BLT and it was unbelievably tasty! I got a matcha which was good but it seemed like they used a syrup instead of a powder, but I could be wrong. I think they are more known for their espresso drinks so I wish I got a latte. Next time! ☺️
