Despite its ostensible charm, this establishment is a paragon of inefficiency, where the art of coffee-making is reduced to an insipid, mechanical ordeal. The baristas, exuding an air of perfunctory disinterest, meander through their tasks with a lethargy that borders on indolence, rendering even the simplest order an exercise in Sisyphean patience. The coffee itself, a pallid and uninspired concoction, lacks both depth and nuance, betraying a grievous lack of craftsmanship. As for the ambiance, one might find greater comfort in a sterile waiting room, as the cacophony of poorly curated music and the incessant clatter of incompetence form a discordant symphony of disappointment. In sum, this so-called café is a monument to mediocrity, best avoided by anyone with even a modicum of discernment.

The breakfast sandwich was very good and fresh made. Coffee was excellent. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the quick service.

Slow train has been a local staple offering craft coffee and espresso beverages for many years, and my family has frequented at least once a month for quite some time now. However I must say over the last 12-18 months there has been an uprising in business, which is great financially, but has led to a decline in overall employee morale and product quality. Sometimes we are met with emotional resistance from baristas who are clearly feeling overworked and overwhelmed with the business needs, and are not able to offer the modicum of effort that is needed to deliver quality customer service and beverages alike. While this is understandable, because these people deserve rest and incentive to work outside of financial stability - this needs to be addressed by the proper authority within the business. I sincerely hope that the energy and ambiance can return to what it once was: warm and friendly, with great beverages, and understanding staff.

Barista Anjali just made me the best apple cider in history. And she did it with a smile.

Came looking for a good cup of drip coffee. Very long wait for mediocre coffee. No half and half was available on the counter, they add it for you. So it was the wrong amount for me and seemed like it was slightly sour milk, not half and half.
My bagel was cold. In fairness I ordered it “not toasted”. I would have liked it room temperature though.
The service was courteous despite how busy they were. The shop is warm and welcoming.

The staff of Slow Train and The Local are just amazing. Kind, patient, and thoughtful with your experience. Even as a person who isn’t a big coffee fan, I can always find something to make the experience memorable.

Love the relaxing, welcoming vibe and appreciate the Pride Flag and Black Lives Matter sign. I like spending my money at a business that cares about all members of our community...and beyond. Excellent coffee, too. 🖤🖤🖤

The salted Carmel coffee 🤢🤮🤮 took one sip, spit it back out, and threw it away. Someone POURED salt on top. Wasted 10.50 on two coffees. Please please don’t get the salted caramel unless you like salty drinks. I get salted caramel everywhere I go! but here I literally tasted the ocean. I can not 😭. I still taste salt on my mouth. No Carmel I’m so sad.😭

The coffee drinks were historically really good at Slow Train. However, in recent years, their decor has increasingly focused on social-political messaging. As a rule, I prefer coffee shops that avoid heavy-handed social commentary. Kind of a shame.
