Yesterday, approximately 75 people celebrating Waite High School 60th reunion was held at the Black Forest Cafe. The experience could not have been better! Cannot say enough good things about the venue…it is perfect whether inside or outside on their beautiful patio with lots of tables and lovely gardens. Extra special thanks to our wait staff…they did a great job taking care of us!!! And last but not least…our food was delicious. Thank you all!!

Ok! The food was so good and I was so hungry that I failed to take a picture of it! We had pickle fries, pierogi, and onion rings as appetizers. I also had Fried Bologna and onion sandwich, and the schnitzel (various) was very tasty some others had in our party! Atmosphere was pleasant and inviting! Kink of old world Hofbrau haus! Our server, SAM, was wonderful! See picture!

Really middle of the road. While the food was fresh for sure, it was fairly bland. We had brats, German potato salad, knockwurst, potato pancakes, Reuben balls, and a pretzel. I got my order to go, which I had to go there and order because the person on the phone put me on hold for over five minutes. They had three waitresses and a bartender who took my order, so not sure why they didn’t pick up the phone. The place was busy, but not that big.

I had a drink while I waited for my order. It was okay, bit watered down. The order came quickly.

Most of the food was fine, just not very flavorful or interesting The potato salad was the first offender. It was basically just huge chunks of potato (not pictured, I had eaten before taking the photo) with all of the ingredients sort of piled on. This cost $5 for this mess. A far cry from quality potato salads at places like Schmidt’s in Columbus.

We celebrated my sister's birthday with family and friends. The waitress was very professional on handling a large group.
Everyone enjoyed their dinner.
One in our group had the chicken salad. That looked delicious and refreshing on a hot day.
There was also a musician playing.

We've been coming to the Black Forest Café a few times a year for the last few years. Any of the dishes are great, but the schnitzel is amazing. The giant pretzel is good. The spatzel is yummy. On our latest visit (tonight) they had been very busy and short staffed, but the staff were all very accommodating and friendly. We brought friends that hadn't been there before and they loved the food and had a great experience. It's truly a hidden gem in Oregon, Ohio.
