The food was was normal German on par with similar food in Germany at a family restaurant. Service was very busy. The visual aesthetics is very pleasant. Lots of wood tones. The sound is outrageously loud there's nothing in the room to deaden the sound. The sound level was hurting my ears. I was bummed though there was no spatzel, and no desserts whatsoever. I really want a Black Forest cake from the Black Forest inn.

Chicken tenders were good and so were French fries. Soup was excellent. The potato pancakes were so-so. The waitress was excellent as was the atmosphere in the restaurant. Everyone seemed to be working hard and the meals were prepared and delivered quickly and efficiently.

I finally had the opportunity to go to this cafe. It is located in a nice area, and nice inside. The service was ok, the chicken schnitzel was ok but the rest of the food was awful. The giant pretzel was very good. I hate to say that because I was looking so forward to having dinner there as I love German food. The potato pancakes were cold and over-cooked and a bit on the oily side instead of hot and crunchy. The noodles had no taste at all and the red cabbage was terrible. It did not have any authenticity to it and I was very disappointed. I wish I could leave a better rating but it was just a disappointing experience.

I was really looking forward to trying their food, but after two failed attempts, it unfortunately didn’t happen.

Our first visit was on July 4th. I checked their website in advance, and there was no mention of being closed for the holiday—so we gave it a shot. When we arrived, they were closed. I later found a closure notice on their Facebook page, which I hadn’t checked beforehand—so I’ll take responsibility for that one.

We tried again the following day. This time, I checked their Facebook page before heading out and saw no indication they were closed. When entering the park, there was a note on the sign that they were open! The parking lot had several cars, which gave us hope—but when we walked up to the door, it was locked. An employee passed by, threw her hands up, and shook her head “no” without saying anything or coming to the door (no sign on the door either). While we were in the parking lot searching for other options, we noticed people leaving with food boxes—so it appears they had been open earlier. We were there around 6:00 p.m. We witnessed several other groups trying to go in, only to walk away with the same confused look. So I guess we weren’t alone in the confusion.

It was disappointing, especially since we were visiting from out of town and had really hoped to give them a try. I’m not sure I’d chance a third visit.

So disappointing.

My son and I had previously scouted out Black Forest Cafe and finally had the opportunity to take my husband on a mystery family dinner outing. My husband is always on the hunt for places that serve authentic German food. BFC definitely checked all of the boxes. We will definitely be going back. You have to double check their hours of operation before heading out because they do vary.

What a wonderful experience we had at Black Forest Café! Delicious German cuisine with wonderful service and beautiful restaurant. The café was so lovely. Felt like taking a trip without leaving the state. Strongly recommend the delicious beer cheese and pretzel! My son says the sausages and grilled cheese are the best

We ordered at 615pm, never got our food, at 830 we were told our food was given to another table. We got a refund. Disappointed is an understatement

Don’t bother going without calling to check what their hours are. Apparently the hours they posted on Google AND on their LED sign out front of their restaurant show incorrect hours and they even know it. We drove 30 minutes to get there with over an hour until they were supposed to close just to be turned away at the door.
