Had the best server ever, Ashley. She was really lovely and kind. The only downside is that Dortmunder was served in a can.

Below average, overpriced food. Service is fine. The real BS of this place is the unannounced 3% service charge added to every bill for no reason. Not sure why people would come back here. Wish someone else would take it over, as it could be a lovable pub grub place.

Left Field Tavern Review: A Solid Hit with a Few Quirky Bounces
Stopped by Left Field Tavern in Oxford for lunch, and it was a solid experience—kind of like a bloop single that still gets you on base.
I went with the Cajun chicken sandwich, expecting something grilled and spicy. What I got was a fried surprise. Not bad—just not what the mental menu had in mind. Crunchy, flavorful, but more “Southern comfort” than “Cajun kick.” Still, I gave it a 3.8 out of 5. Would I order it again? Maybe—if I’m in the mood for a curveball.
My buddy ordered the fish sandwich, which was massive. We’re talking “needs its own zip code” big. He liked it—even though they didn’t serve it with tartar sauce, which felt like forgetting syrup with pancakes. Odd choice, but he powered through.
• Atmosphere: Cool vibe. Comfortable. Felt like a place you could hang out for a while without getting rushed out.
• Prices: A tad high for a tavern-style spot, but not outrageous.
• Service: Friendly enough. Nobody sang “Happy Birthday” or remembered our names, but we didn’t get ignored either.
Would I go back? Yeah, probably. Especially if I’m in town and craving something casual with decent portions and a laid-back feel.
Left Field might not knock it out of the park every time, but it’s a dependable spot for a casual meal—just expect a few quirks in the lineup.

Truffle fries aew amazing! Got the fish&chips basket, the fish was dry it just crumbled. Our server never came back to check on us but when she cleared the plates she asked how it was. Told her it was dry and unedible. She said, guess you know not to order that again😄🤣Guess I'll stick with truffle fries if I ever go back.

Love it!! They are SOOOO good with my son, who is 11 and autistic. In a college town it's odd to think of a restaurant as a family place , but it's our family's place.
