Maca Root Delivers Deliciously Gluten-Free!

As someone with Celiac disease, finding safe and delicious dining options while traveling can be a challenge. That's why discovering Maca Root in downtown Sandusky, Ohio, (a short drive from Cedar Point!) was an absolute game-changer. I've now had the pleasure of dining here twice, and both experiences were fantastic.
Maca Root is a dedicated gluten-free establishment, which immediately put my mind at ease. This breakfast and brunch spot truly understands proper eating and provides an array of healthy, flavorful choices.

On my first visit, I enjoyed a breakfast wrap that was simply excellent. My second trip brought a delightful salad and avocado toast, equally impressive. Beyond their savory offerings, their dessert/protein balls are a must-try. I've sampled the peanut butter crunch, snickerdoodle, and peanut butter and chocolate varieties. While all three are amazing, the peanut butter crunch is definitely the standout!

The atmosphere at Maca Root is wonderfully cozy, and the staff, including the owner, are incredibly welcoming. It's clear they're passionate about providing healthy options without compromising on taste or experience.

If you're in the Sandusky area, especially if you're looking for dedicated gluten-free options, Maca Root is an absolute must-visit!

Cutest juice bar. We found this little gem after spending 3days at Cedar point. I ordered an açaí bowl with collagen protein, an immunity shot and some bone broth. My son got the grilled cheese and loved it. Adorable decor. Owner was fabulous! I wish this place was closer to Salt Lake City. I’d come hear often. Great find!

I went almost daily to Maca for two weeks during a family emergency visit to Ohio.
(I stayed in Huron, but totally worth the drive to Sandusky). Friendly & calm environment made it feel like I had a home base from which to handle difficult tasks.

The girls working there were really nice. But overall I can’t say Maca Root is worth the cost. $11 for a tiny egg burrito is not really worth it even though I like the quinoa.

I’ve also never had avocado toast both that small, or with some kind of sweet syrup on it, that was disappointing. But I am guessing it might be hard offering healthy options in Ohio and complaints might have led to the inclusion of unnecessary additions. Who knows.

The juice is too sweet also. All the plants are fake. It’s just a stylized small coffee shop that charges more because it looks like an urban outfitters.

As a celiac, this place is a dream. We got the Baja Breakfast Burritos and a vanilla iced latte and a mocha iced latte. Everything is delicious! The burrito ingredients were fresh. The mocha they used was the best we’ve ever tasted. Vanilla iced latte was not too strong, very good!! Would recommend to everyone!!

Amazing food! Totally gluten free so perfect for those with celiacs but honestly if you’d told me it was normal bread/tortilla I wouldn’t have even doubted it! Cold brew and smoothies were really good as well and the prices were good especially for gluten free, and the general atmosphere was really warm and welcoming. We were also able to order an old special they had that was on the website but not the main board really easy with no hassle. All in all a great place!
