Don't dare ask for salt or you will be treated like you have leprosy. Three of us ordered bibb salad, popovers, braised beef meatballs, ricotta dumplings, scalloped potatoes, and beef steak tips. The popovers were very good. The waitress ignored us for close to 10 minutes after our food arrived. The steak tips were over powered with excessive herbs and garlic. Two of the three of us had a gross lingering taste of excessive garlic for hours after dinner. I scraped off as much of the herbs and garlic that coated the steaks as possible and requested salt. A guy eventually brought over what I can imagine is their only salt shaker for customers. He promptly and ceremoniously removed the green salt shaker before our plates were removed. A quality steak does not deserve to be drenched in that much garlic and herbs. The puree that accompanied the beef tips was only about 1.5 tablespoons. Really? Such little puree with that many steak medallions. I suspect that my brother tipped the waitress well but if he let me pay, she would have known of my displeasure.

I love a restaurant that's got good soft lighting, especially at night. Cozy atmosphere downstairs with an extensive menu of shareable plates. Bar upstairs. We got 4 plates - all good. Beef tips, croquettes, corn bread. Nice wine menu. New, upscale in the Van Aken outdoor shopping complex. Fun stores nearby.

My husband and I recently celebrated our 2nd anniversary at Kiln while visiting family in Cleveland, and we couldn't have asked for a better dining experience. Being foodies from Dallas, we were excited to explore the culinary scene in this vibrant city, and Kiln did not disappoint!

The concept of shareable plates was perfect for us; we spent the evening sampling a variety of dishes and wishing we had more people at the table to try even more of the menu. We kicked off our meal with the Roasted Candy Striped Beets—absolutely a must-try! Be sure to have all the flavors in one bite to fully appreciate the greatness of this dish.

Next up, the mushroom tartlets were delightful, perfectly prepared and bursting with flavor. The Buttermilk Fried Chicken Livers were a decadent treat that we thoroughly enjoyed. We rounded out our selections with the Stuffed Cabbage, which paired beautifully with the Lamb Shank—an excellent choice that added to our unforgettable meal.

We also had a lovely wine from Stolpman Vineyards, La Cuadrilla, which complemented our dishes wonderfully. For dessert, we tried the Local Apple Crisp, a vegan dish that was good but could have benefited from a bit of fat to bind the topping properly and achieve the crispness typically expected in a classic apple crisp; it ended up being more of a dry crumble.

Overall, we absolutely loved our experience at Kiln and are already looking forward to our next visit. If you find yourself in Cleveland, make sure to check this gem out—you won’t regret it!

Just a wonderful restaurant. This place would have a 30 day waiting list in London or New York or Sydney. Just wonderful food and great service. So lucky to have found this place. Will be back whenever passing through Cleveland.

Kiln was a fantastic experience. Drinks were on point, I had the #6 cocktail which is essentially a negroni, both bitter and sweet.
Had 4 other dishes, all of which were sauced and plated perfectly, with detail and distinction of flavor.
Finished it all up with Baked Alaska, which was the best dessert I've ever had.
This is one of the greats in Cleveland.

Creative and beautifully prepared small plates with almost 50% of the dishes vegan, so this is a perfect place for plant- based eating. Features indoor seating and rooftop dining. Attentive service. Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed the private event that was held at the KILN! Beautiful outdoor patio that blended into the indoor swanky bar area! Thank you to the Cavs Corporate team for the invite, recognition, conversations and exceptional food! Hail to the team working that night too!

Nice service but other restaurants do more of the same and better. For shared plates can send out more intentional and timed than at once as happens when I go there repeatedly. Menu has not changed even for the season. Other options in the city and area. Good wishes for them

Food overall was good, some great dishes, some just okay dishes. My main feedback would be that the price point for the alcoholic beverages is inappropriate for the Cleveland market. ($13-$22 per drink)

our server was fantastic - knowledgeable and patient
the popovers and bibb salad were great
but…. the mussels were slightly overcooked and rubbery and the sauce was meh
most dissapointing were the meatballs (so very dry) and the beef tips which we ordered medium rare but were definitely medium to even medium well. their sauce also overpowered them anyway and was not very sophisticated. the horseradish that had increased my interest in them on the mine was barely noticeable
baked alaska that my party wanted but I don’t like was apparently fine
and the cheesecake was good
we also had the chard which was fine but undercooked for my sensitive mom…
the patio was lovely
all in all it was fine but a lot of money for the entree type items that frankly weren’t good
