What a great place! We arrived at about 5:30pm. There were only two people in front of us in the line to order food. I explained it was my daughter's birthday and our first time at the restaurant, and that we wanted to enjoy the jazz show. We were told we could stay at our table for as long as we wanted, and they gave my daughter, who's turning 16, a free cookie. The cookie was humongous! The three of us have a great time! The restaurant is beautiful, the food was great and the music was very nice! We'll be back!

A bit underwhelmed by this location. Lots of fruit flies flying in the cupboard with the baked cookies. Portions appeared less than other locations.

I went to North star for the first time to have lunch with my friend. I walked in and wasn't sure if I had to wait to be seated or if someone would come to seat me. I saw a lady wiping the tables off. I asked her if I had to seat myself. She said yes. So, I sat at the table after she finished cleaning it. My friend was running late. While I was waiting for my friend (about 10 minutes). This white man in a grey jacket came over to me and asked if I had my food yet. I said no I was waiting on my friend to arrive. He explains the design of the restaurant -stand in line, order your food & find a table. I stated it was my first time here I didn't know but thanks I will know for the next time I come. He tells me well I need you to wait for your friend at the bar because people who follow the restaurant's rules are waiting on the table. I could wait for my friend at the bar or in the line. His tone was so disrespectful. I couldn't believe he was telling me to get up and move. I refused to move. He tells me again you need to move these seats are for the customer you made a purchase already. I'm still not moving. He gets upset and walks away. I'm to out done with his behavior. My friend arrives at this point. She stayed to the table. I got in line she text me her order. Im watching this man the whole time I'm in line. I asked the cashier if he was the manager she yes no & pointed the manager out to me. After placing my order the two are standing there together. I walk over to inform him of the treatment I was given. He agrees with the guy regarding him telling me about the rules. I stated it was his tone & customer service. He should of never told me to get out my seat. He just said ok. I was over him too. My friend & I stayed due to timing we both had something else too do. About 20 minutes later the manager comes but over with 2 complimentary coupons for a free meal. The meal was good I had the chopped salad & the homemade ginger ale was amazing!! And the female staff I encountered were great! I will not go back due to these too men in charge was ok with telling a black women to get out her seat for another guess with everything going on in the world right now. Honestly no person should of been told that but white men telling a black women hits different.
Food is delicious and good customer.

Food was great. Northstar burger is great option for vegetarian and vegans. It comes with black bean patty. However, I felt it is a bit dry. Put some sauce and it works. Carrots juice was awesome.
Music was a bit loud for me but that’s a personal preference.
Overall we enjoyed it. :-)

My first-time here. I will definitely be back.
It's around 6:30 on a Friday evening and the place is packed, and for good reason
Food, service and vibe are all on point. I started with the chicken chili and finished with their veggies burger. Both were excellent. Highly recommend

Great burger for 19$ but I think the fries needed the oil change
North Star Cafe is a hidden gem! I stopped in and had the most delicious peanut butter cookie—perfectly soft and topped with real peanuts for that extra crunch. I also tried their carrot juice, and to my surprise, it was absolutely amazing! I never thought carrot juice could taste so good, but they’ve mastered it. If you’re looking for a cozy spot with great treats and drinks, I highly recommend North Star Cafe.

Service here was excellent—everyone was very pleasant and smiling. A number of families were eating there and the staff was attentive to them. The family of small children sitting next to us left a giant mess of food all over the floor but as soon as they left someone was right there cleaning everything up.
Food here is just okay, the craft soda flavors like cola and root beer seem a bit ‘bleh’ and it was an expensive meal for hamburgers (pretty decent sized patties) served with breakfast potatoes. The giant cookies are excellent and was the favorite part of a recent meal I just enjoyed with my wife and daughter.
For the three of us it was $95 for hamburgers, soft drinks and a cookie each. Yikes.

If you’ve never been, let me explain:
This is an elevated “fast food” type of establishment.
The atmosphere is nice, bright and spacious - looks upscale.
The service is non existent as it’s a do it yourself kind of place. You wait in line to order (pay ahead and tip ahead before receiving anything), you go seat yourself, you pour your own drinks (they are kind enough to give you an empty mug when you order though) and when they bring you your food, it’s all staggered so if you’re with a group it’s not ideal as you might wait 5-10 for the last persons’ meal to arrive. Finally when they deliver the food and ask if there’s anything else they can do I asked for hot sauce and pepper, you could tell the person helping hesitated awkwardly before accepting.
Also before our food even arrived, another gentleman came to our table delivering paper cups stating that brunch was ending shortly and our mugs would be confiscated at 3:10 and we would have to pour our coffee into paper cups. Very odd…
The food is okay, we had the pancakes which were good the egg sandwich and the burrito were okay but the gravy and biscuits were pretty bad (the $6 extra sausage that was added to that was burnt as well)
In conclusion I would not dine here again and would not recommend this place. From the outside it looks great and upscale but once you peel the onion, the inside starts to lack quality and service.
