Country Grains Market – Disappointed After the Hype

For years, we’ve driven by and seen the sign claiming “Best Sandwich in Sylvania.” Today, we finally decided to stop in and give it a try.

We ordered the Italian sandwich and the chicken salad, along with two bags of chips, a muffin, and a peanut butter chocolate cookie. While the service was very slow, we were still hopeful for a great meal.

Unfortunately, the experience only went downhill from there. When I bit into my Italian sandwich, I immediately noticed the salami casing hadn’t been removed. Every bite was interrupted by the chewy, unpleasant skin. On top of that, the bread was noticeably stale and falling apart.

As for the chicken salad—my fiancée took one bite and instantly realized it wasn’t chicken salad at all, but tuna. This was a huge letdown, especially for someone who doesn’t care for tuna. Again, the bread was stale and dry.

We had high hopes based on the sign and the long-standing presence of the market, but the food simply didn’t live up to the hype. We won’t be returning.

Beware—this wasn’t the best sandwich in Sylvania. Not even close.

Great fresh breads, cookies, and other baked goods. The kind of place that brings you back when you need a little quality comfort food.

I’ve driven past this place so many times but never stopped in until today.. omg I was missing out! The sin o man bread is to die for. Cookies/muffins are the best I’ve ever had. Gonna try the homemade peanut butter next 😋 Such a cute little store with friendly employees, support local! You won’t regret it here.

Walking in the door, I was greeted and offered assistance. That was very welcoming, you don't see that much any more. The bakery not only has a large variety of home baked goods, which smell amazing and taste even better, but also jams, natural gummy snacks for kids, honey, and other wholesome treats. The prices are reasonable, but if you have a tight budget, they also have discounted day old goodies.
If you've never been here, be sure to make the stop. I'd give it 10 ⭐ if I could.

A bit on the pricey side but worth paying the price for homemade, local, products. The only issue I had was watching the guy at the register eat something, lick his fingers, swipr his phone, then didn't put any gloves on before he put the fresh bread in the cutter machine. But the guy in the deli did wash his hands before he even made our food.

Wheelchair accessibility: I was able to get into the door. Ample space
