Great hidden gem of a restaurant. Great pasta and steaks. It's along the river with an excellent view.
Food was edible but subpar. was charged twice for the tip and restaurant is refusing to issue refund.

First time going. It's a very old cool looking building. Very dark. Looks like it needs some new decor to spruce it up. Also, the carpet is terrible. I cannot even imagine the germs on that carpet. So all that being said we order the crab cake. It was okay, not great. The crab meat was quite shredded and gray rather than lumps of white crab that you would normally see in a good crab cake.
The appetizer plates were dirty. My friend ordered stuffed fish and I ordered salmon with lobster sauce. So we get our meals and he offers me a bite of his, it tasted good. We took a bite of lobster on top of my salmon and it was okay but looked a little translucent. The salmon looked a little off, almost white instead of pink. I ordered it medium well. Took my first bite, and It was spoiled!!! Wasn't sure where the bathrooms were so I just spit it out in my cloth napkin because I had no choice. It was spoiled! So of course I'm not going to get charged for a meal that the salmon was spoiled. After that I was scared to order anything, so I just got another crab cake which again I didn't really like. And I did not finish it instead we took his leftovers and the leftover crab cake for my cats. I asked the server to see about not only taking the salmon off the bill but my crab cake as well since I did not get to enjoy my dinner with my friend and by the time I got my crab cake he was already finished. The crab cake appetizer is only $14. The server tells me she called the owner and they said well did she eat that second crab cake for her meal? She apparently said I did. In all reality I ask for a box, no I did not. Needless to say I could not believe the owner said this and asked her that question. In my experience when you go to eat at a very nice restaurant like that you expect to eat together. When something happens as horrendous as putting spoiled salmon into your mouth and possibly getting sick. Our entire check should have been paid for. At the least they could have taken off the second crab cake I ordered in place of my spoiled salmon. What are people thinking? Are you kidding me? Really? Wow!! Whoever that owner is, is a irresponsible and considerate human being. I do not recommend this place at all. I do want to say that the server was very professional and kind. We still gave her a proper tip and I felt bad that she had to come back to my table and say sorry but you have to pay for that second crab cake you ordered in place of your spoiled salmon that we served you.. as far as the chef or cook in the kitchen when you picked up that salmon to cook it for me did you not smell it, did you not see the slime dripping off of it? Come on people, do better. Sincerely W.

We went for Mothers Day and there were 4 options to choose from or you could choose the Prime Rib buffet. We all chose the buffet because the menu option were not good!! The problem is the buffet was not any good either the Mac n cheese was not good at all!! The prime rib was so rare there was a pool of blood left on your plate but there was no other options in doneness!! The meatballs were so salty, the only thing that was good was the mashed potatoes. Even the desserts were awful. Then they added a 47.00 gratuity to our bill and our server sucked there was another server that was filling our water and it was a buffet so that’s all that was done 😡 we were also seated in the lower level so we had to go upstairs to get the buffet!!

We stopped here on a senior citizen mystery trip. The service was good and the food was very good too. They give you some of the history of the establishment. Very enjoyable and they can handle large groups. If coming here by motorcoach on a trip, call prior to coming as you have to get around a train viaduct.

Small salad bar.
Fast service.
Side vegetable was lacking.
Ribeye was cooked to order but was a bit tough.
A little pricy.
Upon reviewing my bank statement they charged me twice for the tip I left. Emailed. said they can't do tip on debit card due to not being able to enter a PIN number.
Find that highly suspect and have not gotten a refund.
Looks to me like I got scammed.
Thinking about contacting the county prosecutor to look into this theft.
AVOID THIS PLACE!!!

Had not been to Pioneer Mill for several years due to a below than average experience at that time. Decided to try again. Unfortunately, the experience was unacceptable again. Prime Rib was overcooked ( Ask for Med Rare, received Med Well), little flavor and somewhat tough. Wanted a salad, they offer mixed vegetables with the meal. Side salad was $5 additional. OK, wanted a salad, I will pay the extra. Salad was a bag salad, not a nice fresh salad. Ended up, 2 meals with tip was $100. ( no not a lot of drinks, 1 beer & 1 mixed drink). I do not recommend. 2 star review is being nice.

You pretty much go for the fire roasted-mill cut-prime rib. Its good!
Called ahead to make reservations on a Saturday night for 7:30. Arrived little early and checked in with the hostess and she seemed really annoyed and unwelcoming. Bad vibes. She took us downstairs and seated us in a booth, the atmosphere was warm and cozy. Waitress was pretty nice and took our drink orders. I ordered a Double of Vodka Soda with Lime. She brought me a really watered down tasting vodka tonic with lemon. I didn't even finish it. She took our order and we waited for probably 20-30 minutes before she came back out and told us that the Salmon ran out and we needed to order something different, so we had to wait even longer for our food. My girlfriend ordered crab which was fine, but the Rice Pilaf was unseasoned and cold. I ordered the baby back ribs and it was absolutely disgusting. The meat was rubbery and was not tender at all, plus they just slathered on generic tasting BBQ sauce like a thick coat on top of the ribs. When I order ribs I expect them to be falling off the bones, I had to basically pry the meat off with my fork because my steak knife wouldn't even cut through the meat hardly. I finished it but only because after waiting for well over an hour for our food I was starving. I'm not saying all their food is not properly cooked but stay away from the baby back ribs. Probably won't be returning again, for as expensive as it is you'd expect better service, better food and higher level of professionalism.

We rarely ever get a night out without our kids, so we decided to try somewhere new for Valentine’s Day that I’ve never been. My boyfriend knows how much I love prime rib and said this place is known for it. He spent a week and a half calling trying to make a reservation, and didn’t finally hear back until the day before telling him all they had available was 8:05pm. We understand it’s a holiday and going to be busy, so we took the available time.
We sat around 8:15 and ordered shortly after. I ordered a 14oz prime rib with a side of rice pilaf. The waitress came back and said they ran out of prime rib, but they had a 14oz strip steak I could order instead, so I did. When it came out almost an hour and a half later, it was raw and covered in gravy with a completely different side. I asked about the rice I ordered and she said this was “the special.” I hate gravy and never would have ordered it if I knew. Not only could I not cut through my steak because it was not properly cooked, but it was covered in something I won’t eat. If a guest is paying that much for a meal, they should at least be informed they can’t have it the way they ordered it so they can have the opportunity to choose something different they may actually like.
For the amount of money we spent last evening, i shouldn’t have to take my entire $35 steak home in a styrofoam box and cook it myself before I can eat it. This was a very disappointing experience and not somewhere I would ever go again, or recommend to anyone else for that matter.

Tonight my daughter and I went to the Toledo Symphony Holiday Concert at the Ritz Theatre. We started driving around headed to eat with no particular place in mind. This was 5:30pm on a Saturday evening, mind you. She called Pioneer Mill and Ricky answered the phone. He said he can get us a table but it would be a bit of a wait. We continued on towards the Pioneer Mill, after all, the show didn’t start until 7:30pm. Once we arrived there were literally a dozen people waiting/walking in with us. Ricky was short staffed but handled it like a professional. Quickly and efficiently, he seated table after table. We got on the books and headed downstairs where I had a glass a wine and my daughter, a glass of water. We had a menu and a table before we knew it! The staff were incredibly friendly and patient. You couldn’t tell they were stressed and handled the crowd with ease paying special attention to the Ritz Goers who had a schedule to adhere to. Our food and service was delicious! 😋 Both my daughter and I were super impressed and forgot we should go there more often to eat.
