Stopped by today and had the OWE Latte and it was so delicious. Everyone there is super nice and friendly. Highly recommend!
I've been to Black Kite many times since it was established. Up until a recent dissappointing and harmful experience, I enjoyed visiting the shop. After the experience I witnessed, I won't be going back. I was working at my computer not far from the counter when I noticed a few people come into the shop. They didn't stay long before leaving, though one of them left their phone to charge. After they left, the staff started complaining about them saying things like "we're not a daycare" and "they should be in school." When they came back into the store asking for the phone they had left, the staff (who had unplugged the phone and put it behind the counter) refused to give it to them and said they couldn't come into the shop and that a truency officer was on the way. After explaining that they were not all minors and that they were not required to be in school at that time, they asked again for their phone. The staff relented and gave them back their phone and charger. They then immediately left and after they were gone, the staff started back in talking about them in disrespectful and condescending ways. Here's the things about this that make me really uncomfortable: 1. The staff didn't engage with these people to ensure they understood what was going on. They didn't bother to ask them about themselves and simply assumed they were truent. From what they shared (and I don't know if this is true or not) they were not truent and also didn't seem to harm anything or be threatening to anyone. 2. Calling law enforcement on someone is something that should only be done in extreme situations. Using resources that taxpayers pay for because you don't want certain people in your store is not a good use of resources and takes away from real needs in the community. 3. The staff were all white/white appearing and the people who came into the shop were Black (given this, #2 above is even more concerning). Maybe the people who came into the shop were planning to cause/create harm. Maybe they should have been in school and weren't honest about where they should have been. Maybe they weren't there to cause any harm. Maybe they didn't have school that day and didn't have anywhere else safe to go. I don't know their story, but what I do know is that I was really disappointed by the lack of respect and dignity they were given by the staff of Black Kite.

Great service, great food, great coffee and cute inside vibe! Stayed nearby at an AirBnB & enjoyed coming by for breakfast. The Bagel Ball is GENIUS! Easy to eat on the go and who doesn't like eating creamy balls with sausage?!?

From out of town and found this great coffee spot. We had the breakfast bagel and breakfast bagel ball. We both ordered iced mochas, too. The food was delicious! Drinks were tasty and the staff was so nice.
Vegetarian options: Bagel ball was vegetarian

I visit this coffee shop three times a week. While it's a bit pricey, it's exactly what you'd expect from a local coffee shop—very personal and welcoming. The baristas are excellent and can make any specialty coffee you want. I really enjoy the personalized service, the homemade pastries, and the local flavor they offer. Its location is perfect, near downtown businesses, and the customer service and work area are outstanding. Great, great, great coffee shop!

This is my favorite coffee shop to chill at on a Saturday or Sunday morning. I sit in the corner on my laptop or with a good book and order my usuals. I love the Coconut Matcha Lemonade and the Cherry Blossom Latte is fantastic too. No matter what I order to drink, I always grab two bagel balls every trip. The breakfast balls are my favorite, but the red pepper balls are delicious too. I hope they bring the pickle balls back. They are to die for! One thing I will say is that I wish the bagel balls had more filling to go with all the bagel bread you get. Sometimes there’s not enough. Love this place though! My favorite! I’m rarely greeted by the staff, but they seem nice enough.

I came in June 1st with my service dog, who is trained in medical response for an issue with my lungs. The employees came to me and told me they only allow service dogs, and I told them he is a service dog. This happened twice before they came to me and said they called the owner and he said the dog has to have a service dog vest on or else he isn't allowed in the store, and kicked me out. It's illegal to ask for any proof that he is a service dog, and those vests can be purchased on Amazon anyway.
I'm not convinced the employees actually called the owner (Andy I believe?), but whether this was the owners call, or employees who just don't like dogs, I have never felt so unwelcomed due to my disability.
Food and coffee was good, but this is unacceptable, illegal, and frankly disappointing, especially in a neighborhood like the Old West End.

I felt some of the young ladies went out of their way to be rude.
Every time we go in, these three girls are very rude. Went in 3 times over the festival, and they were rude to every single person in line. If you don't like your job, don't come in. These people were so nice and they tipped and got food and you'll could barely speak let alone smile at them. They pay your bills without customers you don't have a job. Don't see how they get away with the attitude every single day! They want to look super out there, but when everyone is nice to you and you're rude back. You're the Jerks . Yet they keep getting tipped.
Great atmosphere and chai tea. Bagel balls where fantastic as well
