Loved their tamales and will be ordering more soon!!
Clearly marked vegan items, very vegan friendly Mexican restaurant
I’m from Pittsburgh and my brother is from Indiana state. We decided to meet halfway so we could visit him and his family. We met at El Tipico and it was awesome. The food was great, the service was on point and the atmosphere was really nice. My dad talks to everyone, even if you’re ignoring him (he’s the best) and was talking to the owner about the restaurant and how it’s been in the family for 67 (is that right?😂) years. This place is awesome. They told us to sit and visit as long as we wanted and then brought us a dessert for all of us. I hope I’m near Toledo again someday. Definitely going back.
This is a place that has been run by the family since they opened. The one running the restaurant now is very knowledgeable on nutrition. I am gluten intolerant. I also like that she runs a organic non-GMO food place. Everything except the mole is made fresh for each order. I could keep going on. Tho that should be plenty
The mole was exceptional. Short staffed that day, so it was a bit slow getting food out

Referred by my auto body mechanic, he recommended the Mexican pizza. I promise it was the best I ever had. You can choose from the ground beef or marinated chicken. Next trip, I'll try the marinated chicken. ??

It tasted like a salt shaker. I imagine it was on purpose cuz there's no way it could be like that. Seems to be a trend in other restaurants as well.
Great service, the waitresses were very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious with large portions. They also have booster seats and high chairs available for kids, which is very convenient. Definitely a place we'll be coming back to!

Great service. Friendly staff. Food was delicious and authentic. Quality and didn’t immediately put me in a food coma after eating. Will return. Prices are very reasonable as well despite the quality ingredients. Diana, Melissa, and demari are amazing! They took care of me

I grew up eating at El Tipico since I was a child, unfortunately, this is not the same El Tipico. My first complaint, as far as service to customers, is their strict requirement of having to make a reservation. I think it’s unbelievable that every patron is REQUIRED to make a reservation. I had to change my reservation three times because I’m from out of town, and I was not able to accurately figure a timeline from picking up family members to go to the restaurant and had to keep changing my reservation to assure we had a table. That was not enjoyable or did it provide a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
I ordered the cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. I was asked if I wanted the “traditional sauce” and I agreed yes traditional, but when I received my enchiladas it was more of a Mole sauce on my enchiladas (Very different than the more red chili based sauce). Not enjoyable and not tasty. Also for the price point of the plate these enchiladas were flat there was no cheese filling in the tortilla enchilada and very little cheese on the top of the enchiladas (enchiladas are supposed to be cheesy, You are supposed to get that cheese pull when you cut into that enchilada) the portion of rice was probably a tablespoon (small) and Most of the plate was covered with refried beans (of course the cheapest item to provide )
I understand restaurants are getting hit with higher prices, but don’t jeopardize your patrons satisfaction by cutting back on essential ingredients that make a meal authentic and enjoyable.
The restaurant is very nicely decorated , there has been a lot of upgrades since the last time I ate it at El Tipico, which has probably been about 20+ years… but I would rather have the less lackluster atmosphere in exchange for the authentic Mexican food that was offered years ago when Pancho was in charge of the restaurant. Sad when change is not for the best.

What an outstanding, authentic, gluten free (celiac safe) dinner. We were so warmly welcomed into this charming restaurant and made to feel like family. We had the platter so tried many items and they were all fantastic.
I can't say enough about the food and the staff!
Dietary restrictions: Very safe for those that are gluten free! There are also dairy free options. They clearly take allergy protocols very seriously

Delicious dinner! The food is fresh and excellently prepared. The best Mexican food we’ve ever had. I have celiac and they took very good care of me with all the gluten-free prep and options. Everything on the menu can be made gf. Highly recommend!!!
Dietary restrictions: I could have anything offered gluten free. They were careful with cross contamination and ingredients.
