We stopped in after viewing the solar eclipse! It was busy but the service was fantastic! The food was delicious, I learned they hand shred their cheese, which is why it was so amazing ? will definitely stop back in when we come back for the next solar eclipse.

Been coming to Toledo for over a year now and never knew this amazing place existed. Me & my wife stopped in last night 3/16/24 for dinner, had Carne Asada tacos and Fajita steak quesadillas and everything came out perfect, seasoned well and hot. Our server Jazmin was great, made us feel right at home. 10/10 for the whole experience. The whole staff there were very friendly and seemed actually happy to be there. Definitely our new go-to place when we are in town. They have a breakfast/brunch menu from 11-3. Heading that way now. ?

I am only giving this place a 1 star review because of tonight. I ordered 3 Al Pastor tacos and 1 Carnitas taco. I have to say the carnitas taco was good shredded pork cilantro and onion basic street taco good and dependable. The Al Pastor tacos however were not Al Pastor at all. They were Carnitas with chipotle sauce and pineapple. Anyone who knows what actual Al Pastor is it is Fried pork. When I tried to get Actual Al Pastor they told me that this was it and that's their version. Anyone who reads this just Google Carnitas and Al Pastor and you will plainly see the difference it is a total different cooking method of the pork. The fact that they tried to play it off and then get mad when I called them out is unfortunate because the pride of the "authenticity" is non existent and they don't care. I tried to get a refund for 2 of the 4 tacos because I ate the carnitas it was good and I took a bite out of an "Al Pastor" taco and tasted and saw that it was in fact not an Al Pastor taco. My total bill was 60 and change for all the food wife's and drinks included each taco pastor 5 dollars and the carnitas is 4.50. I asked for a 10 dollar refund and they denied me because It wasn't what I thought and there was nothing wrong with them. When actually it was a totally wrong taco so yes there was something wrong with them. I didn't argue I said ok and explained to the waitress that there is actually a difference and that the "chef" didn't have a clue nor care. I tipped, of course because it's not the waitress' fault she was actually great. I write this not really as a complaint (yes I am complaining I know) but more of a warning to anyone who wants an Al Pastor taco. They have a sister restaurant that is owned and operated by the same people called Mi Ranchito that sell actual Al Pastor tacos but can't get La Chalupa to follow suit.

We came for dinner mid-week; a dozen or so other diners. Service was quick; the server was friendly and prompt; the food was hot and plentiful. The margaritas were tasty; no unusual chemical taste that is sometimes present at other places. Chips were hot and tasty and the salsa was fresh. The Quesadilla Rellena with carne plancha is very tasty as are the Enchiladas Verdes and the Birria Tacos; some of the best we have encountered. Tell Ernesto that Nate and Lucia sent you and ask for a bit of the secret picante salsa! Prices are very reasonable. All-in-all an exceptional experience: not a 5 star but rather a 10 star! For those of you who loved El Camino Real, now that it is gone, this is your place. The restaurant is clean and the bathrooms are clean and that says a lot to me.
