Want to start by saying how much I love OG kengo. But our meal tonight was seriously lacking. Everything tasted like it was a day old. Rice was cold and crunchy/stale. The fish was extremely cold and not fresh at all. Even the waygu was served cold. I don’t know how you can’t cook that to order. They are charging kengo prices but giving you less than half the quality. Extremely disappointed and would advise to only go to the main location downtown.

Never had a bad experience at the downtown location but I feel like since this is in the casino they simply do not care to hold them to the same standards.

Best rolls and nigiri I’ve had, been to many high end places all over. Some of the best fish quality as well. Also loved the wasabi here and rice was seasoned great.

The prices are equal to the high quality, it’s worth it. Negihama roll and Negitoro roll were 10/10 amazing. Had to reorder more!

The experience was lack luster from top to bottom. The dining room feels like a crowded after thought. The drinks were uninspired. The citrus was brown. The service was disappointing. The food was mediocre at best. The chalk board menu and laminated flip book menu were low brow.

We went on 4th of July to celebrate and spend some time in the Hollywood Casino as well. We made online reservations because we thought it might be busy and requested a booth. When we arrived nobody was up front and we were waved in by one of the waiters. We decided to sit at a table for two since they didn't have any booths. The waitress was a bit on the reserved side but after she finished her conversation with the customers at the next table she we were able to get our order in. The menu mainly contains roll options. We asked about a la carte sushi but got shrugged off a bit. So we went for edamame and three rolls instead of giving the a la carte sushi a shot because we didn't really feel that the prices matched the ambience of the place. We've been regular Sushi restaurant customers in the greater Toledo area but we're a bit underwhelmed by the options and the reception. The restaurant had a bit of an odd smell coming from one corner of the room. It was very noisy inside because the music playing was competing with the music playing on the casino floor. There were no desserts available and the waitress referred to other restaurants around the casino floor. All in all the food was good but nothing special. We expected a lot more of a dining experience from reviews we saw online to say the least.

Our absolute favorite place to eat. We prefer this over Kengo downtown since parking is easier and tends to be easier to get in. The absolutely best sushi in toledo. High quality and always delicious. Great customer service

Nothing like Kengo in Toledo, understaffed and no napkins, different portions of rice to each nigiri, no wasabi, and salmon sliced in different sizes with a portion of skin left behind. Out of stock on many requested menu items.

The Sashimi is some of the best I’ve ever had for freshness and taste. The sushi rolls are very small not very tight but the taste is there. If you have some comp money and a taste for sushi stop in. My only negative comment is that for such a nice restaurant they have a clipboard with paper pieces attached as a drink menu on the tables. It’s also a necessity to have the server explain the chalkboard menu to you otherwise you have no idea what’s inside of what you’re ordering.

Seemed like they only had one laminated menu for the whole restaurant to share. Very inattentive and sloppy looking wait staff. Waitress couldnt hear anthing. Had to ask for drink menu. Which had food smashed into it. She didnt seem to know if they offered cocktails… Wasnt offered or asked if we wanted another drink. Waited for a long time with empty glasses and plates and had to ask another waitress for our check. Waitress poured what I think was soy sauce from a tea kettle (lol never seen that before) even though we didn’t order anything that needed soy sauce. Food was bland and uninspired. Things have really gone down hill here. I would say pass on it. Not worth the 100 dollar price for one drink and a plate of noodles. Waitress didn’t know if they offered hot tea.

First time here, was wonderful. Sat at the bar our server was beautiful, friendly, and knowledgeable...(taught me how to use chop sticks) The food was extremely tasteful and presentd beautifully...spicy tuna, snow crab stuffed avocado, ny strip kabob, and dumplings

The hand roll I received was broken and messy, definitely not like the rolled ones shown in the pictures... As for the yakitori, it was far too salty and overcooked, with some pieces even burnt. I was expecting better quality based on the google reviews :(

The best Japanese food I've had in Novi and Toledo
However, the menu is difficult to understand.
Because the quality is high, the price is also high.

Shobu is great! Everything is good, but I especially love their salmon teriyaki meal and negitoro roll. Their matcha dessert is also delicious. Always great service.
