Another great meal at Savannah Joe's...shrimp & grits, green beans, collard greens, and cornbread were exceptional. We stopped on our way from Pittsburgh to Warren and the food is worth the diversion! I tried to convince Joe to open a branch in Pittsburgh. Now if I can just hit the lottery! Father Bob
I highly recommend Savannah Joe’s for delicious soul food and desserts. Some of my favorites are the haddock dinners, collard greens, black eyed peas, and Italian lemon cream cake (just to name a few😉).

Hadn't been to Savannah Joes in over two years. Not since I moved to PA anyway. So, for lunch, got the Shrimp and cheese grits with a couple of extra sides. The slow cooked greens with smoked hock and the candied yams. It's now eight hours later and just enjoying the heck out of my choice. The grits (polenta if you like, just full of cheese) covered in a rich gravy five huge shrimp arrayed around it, sprinkled with seasonings and scallion. This is great! I've had this dish in New Orleans, Biloxi, and Charleston SC. And this rendition is every bit as good as any, and so much better than most, that I've had. The candied yams I'm convinced are delicious AND good for me, carotene and all them vitamins. Don't know if it's Karo or maple syrup, with cinnamon and other spices. These candied yams would be great in a big casserole on the Thanksgiving Day table. Then later, with a slice of pie. But my favorite are the greens. The Shrimp and grits are unbelievably great, but I love slow cooked greens with bits of smoked pork (hock I think) and just mildly spiced and the pot likker I could drink by the glass. Do NOT make my mistake. I very stupidly didn't get any cornbread. This meal, as fantastic as it is, deserved a couple pieces of hot buttered cornbread to sop up the likker and eat between mouthfuls of shrimp and grits. I am so down with this restaurant. Savannah Joes, right on Glenwood. Unbelievably great! And of course the service was great as well, I'm thinking they must like the food! I'd be bringing something home for Mom every time I worked.
My husband and I went to Savannah Joe's yesterday for the third time and everything was amazing as usual! Fried catfish, greens, grits, candied yams, mac n cheese, cornbread, and OMG THE DESSERTS!!! Can't wait to go back! 💜
