My wife and I are from DFW and were in Ardmore dropping off our granddaughter. Afterwards, being that we had had no breakfast, we were famished. This was on a Sunday afternoon. I searched for local Mexican food and found this "restaurant" here on TA. The reviews were okay so we decided to give it a try. We arrived at 1:00 straight up. We were seated immediately which is typical for a party of two, larger parties were waiting. On the way to our table, there was a server carrying plates of food and had no idea which table they belonged to. We were brought tiny metal forks wrapped in a napkin, chips and salsa served in little plastic, disposable cups. The waitress apologized for the wait which I thought was strange because we had not been there but just a few minutes. This apology, obvious now, was a force of habit. After about 5 minutes, she came back and we ordered just water to drink and fajitas for two. The water, with a slice of lemon, came quickly as it should. We sat and ate chips and salsa and waited and waited and waited. The waitress kept coming by and apologizing. After a FULL HOUR, the previously mentioned, dumb founded server, brought two plates of food that belonged to some other party! He looked at us like we were crazy and said in a flustered voice "well, what did you order?". I said, "fajitas for two, ask her!" our waitress was standing behind him. More apologies issued, blah, blah, blah. 20 minutes later, my wife told them, "if our food isn't here in 5 minutes, we're leaving. It wasn't so we stood up to leave and here comes the fajitas...finally! The chicken and beef were dry and the veggies were mush. The only thing that was good was the rice and beans. She said she would discount the meal because of the wait. Almost 2 HOURS in, she brought the check, with a $3.00 discount but had charged us $6.00 for two ice teas...really! I pointed it out and she was gone again. Another 5 minutes she came and called us to the front to check out. We couldn't even get to the register because of two busboys horsing around in front of it. The girl and the register couldn't figure it out so she yelled across the lobby, MOM! Mom said, "just give them $6.00 cash. This place is out of control with a bunch of careless, ignorant kids jacking it all up. 2 hours wait for the worst fajitas I've ever had. I only write reviews when I'm impressed, either good or bad.

El tapatío. I don’t know if I was just hungry but the food was ok. Nothing that wowed me. The restaurant was very clean, welcoming and good decor. The waiter and staff are friendly and are always checking on you. ( good job ) I wish they had more selection of aguas frescas. All in all not the worst I’ve had.

I don't think I have ever had a bad experience at either of the Ardmore El Tapatio locations. Staff is always nice and food is always delicious
Parking: Parking is sometimes full but there is an additional parking lot located behind the building
Had heard good things about these restaurants so decided to get one a try. We were seated quickly and the wait staff was very friendly . Our drinks were brought in a timely manner and our food wasn't very long in getting to us either. Our waiter made sure to keep us supplied with fresh chips and salsa and kept our drinks full. The food was cooked good with a good flavor and we all had plenty to eat. I will definitely be looking forward to my next chance to eat at one of these.

This spot is great for good Mex-Texican food. The proprietors are Mexican, and they serve some things that Mexicans normally serve in Mexico & some things that U.S. folks eat. The food was very good. And, there was plenty of it.
