This place is SO good!! They have perfected their flavors. They use all fresh ingredients and you can tell, including the organic heirloom corn tortillas We got: mini quesadilla plate with Barbacoa and steak tacos + rice , taco plate with abodada pork and pineapple with rice and beans, a kids meal with cheese quesadillas with double order beans, order of chips and 3 salsas AND a Mexican coke of course.
very nice service and good food 👌 👍
The establishment is lovely and the woman who was helping us was too. We really enjoyed the environment. The food was hit and miss. The ordering process was a bit confusing.

Holy Guacamole Batman, that was the best quesadilla I've EVER had. Like a Richness about it but not too rich. It pairs spectacular with their creamy Jalapeño sauce.
I seldom leave reviews but the food was AMAZING and even though I did carryout the server was very hospitable and welcoming. I'll definitely be back only this time with all my family and friends so I can show off "my" new spot for the best Mexican food.

The food was great. There is absolutely no customer service. You’re not greeted when entering. You have to order on a kiosk which is nerve racking when there’s a line behind you. And the music was so loud that a conversation while waiting for your food and dining is almost impossible.

After a year of living in Durant and frequenting this restaurant, it is well past due that La Gruta receives a 5 star review all around from me.
This restaurant is the most delicious authentic Mexican food north of the border. I’ve never ordered something here that I didn’t love and I recommend a stop to everyone that hasn’t been yet. The salsas and tortillas are incredible and, in my opinion, are what set this restaurant a notch above the rest.
The frequent new menu options always give my wife and I something new to try and we’ve never been disappointed by an order. Sometimes there are even things on the menu that step outside of the usual expectations! Finding out that La Gruta started serving boba was a great surprise and my wife and I hope that it’s here to stay!
The service is always fast and friendly. The atmosphere is welcoming and fun. You will not be disappointed coming here (unless you mistake this for a typical Tex-Mex restaurant, but that’s your fault)!

La Gruta is my go to Mexican restaurant. My favorite tacos are the adobada ones which are pork with pineapple and they’re absolutely amazing! The nachos are also something I get almost every time I go with their homemade tortilla chips and meat and toppings piled on top. Last couple of times I tried the new bbq chicken, fried chicken, bbq beef, and short ribs. They are all delicious! The portions are large and the macaroni salad is the best I’ve had. The salad has a tangy sweetness that pairs perfectly with the meat and rice. Anytime family visits we go here and we’re all able to find something we like due to the variety of options. 10/10 would recommend!
Highly recommended! Food is delicious with fresh ingredients!!
Hit the jackpot! This little cozy spot is amazing. Like Texas Monthly review kind of place. The guacamole was fresh and so balanced. Beer battered Mahi taco was perfect. Even the basics like rice and salsa verde were a step above others I’ve had. The signature corn tortillas… just so good. Prices are very affordable for this level of quality food. Can’t wait to try more. Ordering was easy with a kiosk or at table. Less intimidating for me on my first visit.

I’ve lived in San Antonio, Texas for the last 10 years and have to say this competes and BEATS a good amount of Mexican food in South Texas. Not only is the food fantastic but the family that runs it is an absolute gem. Can’t recommend this place enough.
