This afternoon, after hearing from many that I should, I had lunch at the Night Owls Diner food-truck at the Eufaula Market. Some have even compared the Night Owl’s cheeseburger to the legendary Eufaula Tastee-Freeze from back in the day. Those are mighty bold claims I generally dismiss as over exuberance. I ordered the Smash Cheeseburger, with mustard, lettuce, pickles, and jalapeños. Out of habit, I asked for a side of fries when I could have had fried pickles, okra, green beans, or tator tots.
I fashion myself somewhat of a cheeseburger connoisseur having eaten the delicacy on four continents. The Smash Cheeseburger I had today at Night Owl’s Diner has made a mess of my Top 5 Cheeseburgers of All-Time. Night Owl’s Smash Cheeseburger slammed into the number 3 spot like a wrecking ball! Behind only Tastee-Freeze and a hole-in-the wall Asian place in Sofia, Bulgaria, Night Owl is number 3! Night Owl had no idea five minutes before I ordered mine if they would ever make another. They made mine like it would be their last! Cast superlatives and comparisons aside, Night Owls Diner is world class in a world where they could be number 1.
One thing that will immediately remind you of Tastee-Freeze is your “burned” fingers and tongue. They served the cheeseburger and fries so hot, you are going to get burned. We only had a few minutes to get back to school from lunch, we had to eat fast meaning it was going down hot. Night Owls is the same way. Go try one!! You’re welcome!

We got burgers here last week that were delicious!! Four thumbs up and 10 stars. Excellent service. Very accurate. We were even getting a late lunch they were happy to serve us with smiles.
