The fried chicken was AWESOME! I googled fried chicken in Lawton and saw this little gem. My husband and I both had the fried chicken wings. He had the Mac and cheese and sweet potato sides. I had the collared greens and mashed potatoes. Everything was delicious! He said the sides were the best he’s ever had! On the way out we met Mrs. GG who owns the place. She asked where we were from. When she heard I was from Hawaii she said “oh Hawaii!”.

Every time I’m in OKC I slide through the function! If you’re looking for REAL soul food made with love, Mrs. GG’s Southern Cookin’ is the spot. From the moment you walk in, you feel like family. The food is fresh, hot, flavorful, and cooked with true Southern tradition. The fried chicken was crispy and seasoned perfectly, the mac & cheese was creamy and homemade, and the greens tasted like they came straight from grandma’s kitchen.
What really stood out was the hospitality. The owners were welcoming, friendly, and made sure everyone felt comfortable and appreciated. You can tell they truly care about their customers and put pride into every plate they serve.
Lawton needed a place like this. Great portions, amazing service, and authentic comfort food that keeps you coming back. Highly recommend Mrs. GG’s Southern Cookin’ to anybody craving a home-cooked meal made with heart. 10/10!

🔥 Just tried GG’s Southern Cooking and WOW… it was GOOD!
I got the fried chicken, yams, and mac & cheese and every single thing was on point. The chicken was crispy and seasoned perfectly, the yams were sweet and flavorful, and the mac & cheese was creamy and straight-up comfort food.
You can tell the food is homemade and cooked with real love. If you’re looking for some authentic Southern cooking that really hits the spot, I definitely recommend checking out GG’s Southern Cooking.
