My personal review of Whataburger (Hickory Location) I am taking into account that they are newly opened. Drive thru time was about what I expected. 25 mins from start to finish. What took me by surprise was the armed security guards. Now I am all about carry a gun and protection and all that but the drive thru was packed and all the surrounding parking lots as well. Not sure having 6 armed men outside was necessary. Most of us were just trying to maneuver thru the maze without hitting a cone. Chik fil a has in under control with high school students and from what I saw today could have given some advice on how to direct traffic. Customer service was not high on the list. No one was smiling or even looked like they were glad to be there. I am sure the long black pants didnt help with the heat. Although security got me thru the drive thru line, all the order takers were in the other line so I pulled up to the window and had not even placed my order. When the young man finally came over he had a very difficult time with his iPad and credit card machine. Repeated my order atleast three times and end result was still incorrect. The food was not bad but I have had better burgers. I ordered a single cheeseburger with bacon and no onions. I received a double hamburger and extra onions. Markese had the chicken sandwich and said it was good and they did make it correct. Fries were cold and not cooked very well. My suggestion would be a little more training and you might want to follow up with some of the Chik Fila managers to see how they train their staff. You could probably save a great deal on security and maybe put that into training. My first experience what not a great one so i will probably not try again, but my suggestion for others would be to wait a little while and let the newness wear off.

On 4/8/25, I sent in a complaint via their website. As is obvious from this posting date, one week has passed and not one communication from Whataburger. It is CRM: 00280846787, even though I’m quite sure this matters not at all to this company. A week ago, I was a recoverable customer. Heck, yesterday they could have won me back. Ignore your customers for a week when they have a complaint? Naw. No coming back. Even better, the complaint was about being completely ignored at a location in Texas.
I ordered a zero sugar lemonade and got a regular lemonade...my sugar is now 380 because of the service person gave me the wring drink

I was here Thanksgiving evening with a large group, and was hugely impressed with the service. Several of the staff went out of their way for us, wish I had gotten their names to shout out but you all know who you are. Exemplary team work and customer service.

Just flat out rude. Just because you have to work a holiday doesn’t mean you get to be ignorant, remember you pick your own profession. Most of us work holidays, get over it. Hope you have a better thanksgiving 😘

I ordered two of the same meal. One meal the assistant manager rang up correctly, the other meal she charged each item separately, costing me an extra $1.68. I took her the receipt and showed her what was done. She just walked away. I never got my refund. So, I think if I want Whataburger again, I will go to the one on Douglas. We have never had a problem there.

I have eaten inside and used the drive through at this location.
The inside dining area was clean and inviting.
The staff is always friendly and helpful.
Whataburger is our go to fast burger and fries, always fresh and delicious.

Ordered my breakfast at 5:36 and got it at 5:58 and was the only one in the store.

I really wouldn't suggest anybody use the mobile app. It took almost an hour for us to sit in that spot and wait for the food. They had to run in and out of the restaurant several times because it was incorrect. They brought one thing at a time. Very rude employees at this particular restaurant. When my wife spoke to one of them they turned his back and walked away. I mean I get it. They're just kids and they don't want to be walking in and out.

Every time I go to this location the workers forget something that comes with my meal.
Today I stood in front of a worker and no one helped out so yeah don’t forget to check your bags.
