One of our favorite brewery's in Norman. The owners and staff are awesome!! The beers are great and the taps are always changing!!

Went to this bar twice. Beer is too sweet. The last excursion out was during their bingo event? Idk some woman talking about colonization and yada yada on loud speaker. I happily decolonized this bar and wont be back

University cities often have that old town-and-gown dichotomy going on, and Norman OK is no different. It’s like that old Venus-and-Mars thing used to describe the differences between men and women.I found myself in Norman (home of OU) to shoot photos of two old theatres, and naturally worked up a thirst. Beer Is Good (BIG) is located in the traditional downtown part of Norman, more than a mile from campus. And it took me a New York second to quickly realize I was among locals, not the campus community.

The brewery (I never once saw a wort kettle or fermenter) looks and feels more like a tavern, which is fine. It works. The place was decked out in a Nightmare Before Christmas motif, and the big screens showed Texas destroying OSU in football. I’m betting everyone in there was rooting for Texas, if only because of the OU/OSU rivalry.I went with a flight, as is my M.O. They had enough IPAs to do four in a row, starting with Road To El Dorado SMASH (6.6%ABV), and continuing with Clockwork Orange Juice (6.8%ABV), Real Fake Limes (8.6%ABV), and Straight Outta Compton (8.3%ABV). They were all approachable IPAs, each with unique flavor profiles.

But it was the Compton that piqued my curiosity, its subtle malty finish raising my eyebrows in a delightful way. It is no small feat to brew hop-forward yet malt on the back side; I ordered a pint of it, again my standard procedure. Best-in-flight deserves a pint of its own.

I enjoyed my visit. The crowd was much more sedate than what you would expect in a college town. Two thumbs up.

Great tasting stout. They know how to mix coffee and bitter stout together. Also, BIG has a water station to keep customers hydrated. Customer service is great. My friend and I sampled a few beer here prior to purchasing. They were very accommodating. The Panda Hill stout is my super favorite and I hope they keep that on the menu permanently. My problem is with one of the customers. I fear his return. I am not sure if he is a regular, but chances are, he is. He drinks too much IPA, pukes all over, and rants about the patriarchy. And his breath smells so bad that every beer in the bar gets ruined. That gastric acid and the IPA vomit stunk up the bar area. I gave this place a 5 star because this IPA degenerate is not BIG's fault.

Well worth the visit. Plenty of walking window shopping area. So if your thirsty this is perfect cozy spot. The wife was not over the top with her choices of drink. I was !! Cheers

This is by far the best brewery in Norman. They serve a consistent array of new and interesting beers. They have nearly all types from lagers to sours to IPAs to stouts and porters. The staff is amazing and wonderful. A real pub atmosphere. No food really (snacks) but outside food is welcome. If you love beer and miss a trip here when in town you are not living right.
