I had the YAM CHICKEN! It was the best thing ever plus Cabbage, Mac & Cheese, green salad & the best cornbread ever! The best service ever! Love this place! Go try it!

I stopped by for lunch a few years ago and the food is delicious. Excellent service and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Perfect for when I am craving the home cooked taste.

let me start off by saying that i really wanted to love this one. after reading about how it had won a james beard award and seeing it featured in many places, i had high hopes. however, as far as soul food goes, it just didn't really do it for me. everything was on the bland side, and i felt the service and atmosphere of the restaurant was lacking. it felt more like a diner than a restaurant, and could be so much better if a little more love was put into it. sadly, i probably won't be going back except maybe to try the chicken fried steak to give it a second chance.

I won't degrade the restaraunt. I was excited based on reviews. I am critical because I come from a family of cooks, and I love to cook.

The food was ok.
The banana pudding was not the homemade custard I expected. I am not sure everyone's grandma made banana pudding with a homemade, handmade, from scratch custard, so it may be preference.

I prefer more seasoning on my food.
I had the fried chicken and my chicken breast was cut into 4th and I was given 2/4 and a wing( extremely small pieces).

My husband has the meatloaf. It wasn't his favorite.

We won't return.

The last two orders was terrible received wrong order and portion size small and can not call and place a order anymore and poor service never had problems before was always happy with my weekly order,but once you a big head you change and us regular don’t mean sh%#

The place is fine but the waiters must greatly improve their activity to be kinder made me spread almost 45 minutes for a dish and I clarify there was no customer on the site.

We were visiting from Houston. We came on a Monday after. This was great ! The food came out quick and fresh. That Lemonade…..I had 2 and another to go. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend. We didn’t even spend $40. Never would get that in HTX !

The food was really good I had the yam chicken collard greens mashed potatoes and yams the service was really good all the ladies were very nice and had great personalities and it was a nice atmosphere

Such a disappointment! The restaurant was clean, and the service started out well, but our server largely ignored us after bringing our food. The fried chicken was inconsistent and a salt bomb. The hamburger steak was flavorless and chewy. The vegetable sides were straight out of a can with nothing to add flavor. I don't know what happened after this place was on TV, but it's gone downhill.

I had the fried chicken, which was amazing! The fried gizzards were delicious. I also had a salad with granny’s homemade ranch dressing 😋. The waiter and waitress were very attentive. We never had an empty glass. They were the most friendly people we have had as waiters and waitresses. I give them a big thumbs 👍. Granny’s peach cobbler is to die for! We will definitely be back.
