I’m not one to leave reviews often, however, my husband and I were walking with our dogs around Lake Hefner Sunday morning, April 28th. Around 12:40, we thought we might stop by to get something to eat. Since we didn’t take our wallets with us, we called both Louie’s and Mama Roja’s to see if they took dogs and Apple Pay. I was told Mama Roja’s DID take Apple Pay, dogs were fine on the patio, and Louie’s did NOT take Apple Pay and dogs were fine on the patio. It was decided we would head to Mama Roja’s for a break and some food. When we went to pay, our waitress and I attempted x 4 times on different pay terminals trying to get the system to take my payment. Our waitress (McKenna G) was so sweet, apologized profusely, and said we should ask the manager on staff, as she would be helpful. The manager (long brown hair with a braid), was curt, barely looked at me, offered no solutions to the problem and simply stated “we don’t take Apple Pay.” She barely acknowledged me. She also told our waitress (not me, as she looked at me once for 2 seconds) my husband or I would need to stay while one of us walked two miles back to our car and drove back to the restaurant to pay. I apologized to our waitress, stating I was told over the phone that the restaurant took Apple Pay. She also looked confused, apologizing for everything that had happened thus far. She was great with her service. She was very sweet, offering me refills on my drinks while I waited. We then tried to manually input card information to the system, which also didn’t work. So overall, we were given the wrong information, which resulted in approximately a 40 minute wait for me sitting alone with my dog while my husband walked back to the car with our other dog. I’m disappointed with the lack of responsiveness of the manager, general misinformation, and unprofessionalism. Either get Apple Pay or stop telling your customers you take it if you don’t.

The waiter was not very pleasant or helpful. There was a shift change and he never mentioned it or came back to the table. Saucers and water was optional. Didn't know the menu. Or didn't want to order for me. We were celebrating a birthday. Decided to finish someplace else.

We had a beautiful patio dinner after a small reasonable wait for a Sunday. This was our first visit here. I will say I had nearly given up on eating at sit down restaurants entirely post COVID in OKC. Not here! The what I assume is front of house management was clearly on top of things, she was always walking around checking in on guests. She wasn’t in a back office, she was walking the room. There wasn’t a table near us that wasn’t ‘touched’ every 10 minutes by our waitress or management.Food was mouth watering good to even the most picky of eaters. Had a good selection of what you’d expect of traditional Mexican plates and Tex-met style. The chips and salsa set up was great, especially the salsa. The pricing was a bit high but not unreasonable for the location, quality and service. This will be our fav spot from now on for birthdays, anniversaries or just a family night out.We had a corona and a frozen drink which was surprisingly strong for a premixed margarita but was deceptively good as in so good you’d end up tore up from the floor up before you knew it. I can’t believe we waited so long to try this place out but looking forward to spending many unforgettable evenings out on the patio.Dietary restrictions: I’m a strict adherent to keto, I splurged on the margarita but was not left hungry by ANY means. My daughter is a vegetarian and had a cheese enchilada that she LOVED the rice great she said.Kid-friendliness: I mean, it’s a Mexican restaurant. They had some tenders, corn dog, French fries but also basic platters like the cheese enchilada and cheese quesadilla.

Honestly the food, service and ambiance my entire party raved about. But I want to go ahead and share why I would heavily recommend this place. We held my wife's 40th birthday party there. The servers worked super hard. They made amazing food. However we did have a couple snags along the way. First when I called to plan the party--they told us to have one person if we weren't going to use the party room. We needed 80% of the party there and it caused a snag in our planning. We wanted to make sure we aided and followed policy to a T. Second I brought an ice cream cake in and they indicated they could house it. We had a miscommunication on what a freezer/chiller is between the two parties and didn't explain throughly. The cake was melted when I got it out for my wife. Instead of letting me sulk in my frustrations the GM stepped in and aided me very well. She comped the bill for the cake, gave us all Sapodillas and my wife a Tres Leches cake, and did an amazing job at making sure my wife had an amazing party without any hesitation or fighting. If I could give them 6+ stars I would do it. We have a lot of great memories and everyone was super impressed by the experience. Accidents happen and people are human. But the fact they worked with me when panicked makes me super thankful we went here to celebrate.

Had to wait an hour and a half for a table. The food was not worth what they charge for it. The service was mediocre. The salsa and queso was the best part.

Very disappointing experience, we went to enjoy an outdoor experience or at a minimum lake view inside but after a 24 minute wait we were seated in a dark booth on the south side of the bar. We arrived at 2:35, so should be after peak lunch business. The bar tender was excellent and seemed to be one of the few employees that knew what was going on. The food was mediocre at best. As we sat at our table and observed we were perplexed to say the least. I know a lot of restaurants have struggled with staffing since Covid but that wasn't the case, in fact there were lots of "staff"' visible. However, they seemed to be wandering around without a clear purpose of their responsibilities. We looked at the other areas on our way out, patio and indoor seating with lake views and none of them were at full capacity, in fact at about 1/3 capacity. Management needs to take a look at the numbers, numbers don't lie, look at your staffing costs, food costs and revenue. I assume you aren't meeting your target numbers after what we experienced today. Hope you can turn it around since you have a prime location on Lake Hefner.
