Food was delicious! Staff was kind! Support local by eating Essie’s Soul Food. They were out of ribs for the day but we enjoyed all chicken strips, wings, drummets and even the Essie signature fries.

Little bit of the wait but the RED SNAPPA WAS DEFINITELY WORTH IT. For people that are from out of town like me a great place to come and eat some delicious soul food.

We shared a plate of the essie's fries and they were delicious! Very friendly staff, the chef even came and asked us if we enjoyed our meal. Will definitely be going back to try more items!

Me Love and I shared the Essie fries as they filled us up and tasted so delicious with their perfectly golden and crispy chicken! Chocolate chip cookies and spicy ranch pretzels are amazing as well! Keep up the good work and I pray for blessings unto you all! ???

We stopped in for the first time last night for dinner just by chance and I’m so glad we did. It was easily some of the best food I’ve had in a long time.We tried the chicken sandwich with special sauce and a bbq burger. My 3yo had chicken tenders as they usually do lol.The chicken was crispy, flavorful and juicy. I have a hard time finding chicken that has all three. The ingredients were fresh and flavorful. It was one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve had.The burger my fiance ordered was even better and after trying his, I wished I’d gotten it because that BBQ sauce was the best I’ve ever had and I could’ve drank it by itself it was so good. The tenders were a hit with my very very picky eater. I’m always impressed when he will eat something enthusiastically. The fries were very good too. Any time I’ve had thick fries like this, I’ve never liked them because they’re always soggy but these? Soft and warm on the inside and light and crispy on the outside.I was thoroughly impressed with the food but Essie and the chef were so gracious and welcoming as well. It was truly such a nice experience. We will be back for sure because I’m dying to try the brisket and short ribs and all the yummy-sounding sides.

I had the ribs and they were falling of the bone, melting in your mouth with a perfect sweet and spicy sauce. Nice music in the background, nice touch with the historical pictures. I will definitely be back.

The food was delicious the Owners are very pleasant and very friendly and professional. Even gave me and family a sample before even ordering the food to make sure our taste bud was satisfied before even spending any money. Shared our testimonies of Faith while waiting for our food. Food for our stomach and encouragement for our souls!

The brisket is the best I've had in Tulsa. The fries I stole off husband's plate were different but very good. And I wouldn't do anything for a Klondike bar, but I would for the lemon cake.It was refreshing to dine somewhere that really cares about the quality of the food and their customers leaving happy and full.

What a find! We arrived after closing, which was at 6 p.m., but he invited us in, plenty to choose from from fried items and the best fresh veggies salad, that's also the base of one of his Specialty items. Makes his own sauces, too. We had the chicken breast and potatoe salad, so good. And can't wait to go back to have the BBQ, Joshua's specialty. Music, atmosphere and hospitality were so down to earth , good food, what more could you ask.
