Went here on a Wednesday night around 7:30 pm so it was not busy at all. Only 1 other table with customers. Only 1 server. Sat in the back near the other table that is behind the main bar where the sushi cook and servers are, so they cannot see our table or the others. Despite being slow, it took a long time to be given menus, water and take our order. The server was not attentive and at the end we went up to the pay as they did not come to us for some time. I had a roll with torched scallops that was tasty. But generally I found the menu overpriced, for example, a basic dynamite roll, makis and appetizers. My son ordered a ramen, which tasted like an instant ramen pack. There's room for improvement with service and tidiness in the restaurant. I would also suggest checking the menu for spelling errors.
Just had dinner here. Was excited to try it out! But was a little disappointed. We ordered the green dragon, black dragon and fire dragon. We also got the udon with karaage chicken and a bibimbap. The sushi wasn't great. What was really throwing it off and making it off-putting is that the avocado in all 3 rolls was not ripe. It was hard when we bit into it. Definitely not how you expect avocado to be. The udon noodle were good, my husband said he enjoyed it. The bibimbap seemed to be missing something. It wasn't anything exciting unfortunately, which was sad because I was looking forward to it. The karaage chicken was really delicious and saved the meal for me. The service was very disappointing. The restaurant seemed empty (but maybe they had customers on the patio) but service seemed very slow. All in all, it wasn't great for us and we likely won't be returning.
My favourite sushi spot in the area. No bells and whistles just simply yummy food. When you walk in all the staff, including the chefs greet you and the dining experience is laid back and quiet which I love. The food is a little pricey comparatively to others nearby but I feel that it’s worth it considering the quality and freshness of all of their food. My favourite is the pressed touched salmon, but honestly you can’t go wrong with anything on their menu.
Overall your neighborhood Japanese restaurant, not much to complain about. Nor anything impressive.
The Reno definitely felt like I am in Japan. That's dead on.
However if you often go izakaya. Might complain about it.
So fresh and delicious! In a very cute sort of hidden “plaza”. The space is clean, service is great, food fantastic.
Tucked away in the Pickering Village. Well priced, good food and great service! Quality Japanese food! Can't wait to go back. My daughter really enjoyed it too!
Worst service. Had to ask for menu myself, no attention , restaurant is empty. Place also had a weird smell to it
sushi tasted really stale and caused a stomach ache. first and last time ordering from here- the restaurant itself also has a weird odour
I decided to try Koo Izakaya after seeing its 4.7-star rating, hoping it might become my new go-to sushi spot. Unfortunately, my experience fell far short of expectations.
I ordered the Boss Sushi, Fire Sushi, soup, and salad to go. The salad, which I opened first, was mostly spinach and green leaves but riddled with wilted, blackened pieces—reminiscent of the ones I just threw out at home. The sushi combos were drenched in an unpleasant mayo-smoky sauce combination that overpowered everything. The salmon on top was cooked and tasted like smoked salmon, which was unexpected and unappealing for sushi. I found myself using paper towels to wipe off the sauce and eventually removed the salmon entirely.
The soup was lukewarm, though it tasted fine after microwaving—standard miso flavor. The menu was also disappointing, with no real crab rolls, uni, or other staples I enjoy.
All in all, I had high hopes but left let down on my first visit. Sadly, I won’t be back.

This place does not serve Ramen. It’s a sushi place and they have udon noodles, which is not ramen.
The place is great, food is awesome.

Loved their fresh food and friendly service. We tried their butter squid, torched salmon, fire & white dragon rolls, and loved all of them. Highly recommended if you are looking for a sushi place near Ajax.

Hands down one of the best Japanese food experiences of my life, up there with a trip to Japan and a fantastic Izakya restaurant I visited in Vegas. Will definitely be back.

My spouse and I takeout food here very frequently because their sushi and sashimi are of great quality. However, last Wednesday nights takeout platter was awful - the rice was undercooked and dry, the fish was of poor quality, dry and thin, shrimp was slimy, even the sweet ginger was dry. Overall the platter was not fresh and dinner was awful. We immediately provided them feedback and expressed disappointment, the hostess promised to make her manager aware and call us back, but to date nothing. We are very disappointed by the entire experience, the fear that we could have taken ill from raw fish that may not have been fresh enough for consumption and the fact that they didn't care enough to want to improve. You've definitely lost a loyal customer.

Absolutely fantastic fresh food. My favourite sushi place. The staff, chefs and owners are amazing . We have a few food restrictions and they were able to come up with a platter that worked for us. I’m so impressed. Can’t wait to come again
