This place is simply amazing. I’ve been coming here for nearly 10 years now.
Always has fresh bagels & cream cheese (variety!!!) on hand with Halal (chicken) options to boot!!
Recently they upgraded with new fancy LED lights, the place is so bright I need a hat and sunglasses now ;)
Still my fav spot for a bagel.
The food is fine but the service is bad. They forget your order or give you a missing order than blame you for not checking your bag! If i order 5 bagel sandwiches and you give a big bag I'm expecting 5 bagels inside unless you tell wait we are still preparing your last bagel sandwich.. but giving the bag without mentioning anything then when you come back they don't apologize and just blame you for not checking your order...

Came in with my kids 10 mins before closing and stood in line for 5 minutes before anyone even came to the front. By the time someone came, she started turning off the toaster and putting away the utensils. I asked if I could still get a bagel and the woman replied that they’re closing in 5 minutes. I had already been waiting there with no one bothering to take my order. Last I checked, you serve bagels and they’re ready at the front - not even something that needs to be cooked, just toasted. There were still plenty available. If you provide a service and close at a certain time, that should mean people should still be able to buy food that can be prepared within that time. Terrible customer service. I’ll take my hungry kids elsewhere.

Love the halal options of getting steak and eggs
I ordered 6 bagels and the girls said we have a special, with 6 bagels u get a tin cream cheese. I said ok.
I got home to find the container with cream cheese was half filled! I was not impressed at all.

Went into this location first thing in the morning for bagels and they had maybe 4 varieties. I asked for cinnamon raisin and was told at least 25 mins. Then was told to purchase special and was not worth the money. She weighed tubs and the sale was for 200 grams and she stopped adding cream chase at about 170. Great bagels but disappointing experience. You should always have bagels ready when the store opens.

Heard a lot about this place but found it incredibly overpriced and overrated, I had a standard breakfast bagel and it was very underwhelming. No option for bacon, very basic, Great Canadian Bagel was 100% better.

I ordered 4 cream cheese sandwiches on a bagel and i received just bagels with cream cheese and none of the toppings. That is the second time that has happened. Very annoying. Food is good when order is right though.
Drove from out of the area to grab sandwiches for my partner and I, August 24. Was not busy. Walked in and was not greeted for several minutes. The customer personnel who took my order was uncomfortable to interact with. The wait for the sandwiches was longer than stated. I got home and upon opening the sandwiches they were soggy, falling apart and tasted oily. We have had these in the past and they were not like this. In the garbage they went. The manager appeared to be on site. They should have been over seeing whoever made these sandwiches. This person is not equipped to handle this job yet. Train better.
Edit: I have reached out to request a refund. Will update how the store manages this situation.

The food is good, but it came with barely any cream cheese. I also asked for the cucumbers and tomato to be added and it wasn’t put on, it came in a separate bag to put on myself.

I've been going to the OG What-a-bagel location for almost 2 decades. After moving to Durham I was excited to see a location In Ajax. I've given it multiple tries, the bagels are usually decent, the service and management of customers and lines is pretty poor. My biggest pet peeve are the twister bagels. This is a favourite but this location has no clue on how to prepare a sandwich on a twister with care. The best part of that bagel are the sesame seeds and by the time they're done with it you'll be lucky if there's even a quarter teaspoon of seeds left. Almost nothing on top or the sides. They seem to mess it up without fail each time I order it.

Im sad to see your service level is really not what used to be im a regular customer The lady didn't offer to give me back my receipt and asked if that's all I needed i have been coming since opened on ajax I couldn't see where the challah bread normally fresh baked right infront I asked another girl she pointed to me. Very disappointing atmosphere of the store need to give some training even someone called to place order and they disconnected the line after the same bad service went over what the bakery gas for breakfast not friendly at all.

Good food horrible service.
I order online to pick up asked the cashiers about my order they ignore me but proceed to check their cellphones while the other continued to prep ingredients.
Thank you to the man in the kitchen calling out orders to assist me.
Won't be back.

Takes forever to get anything here. They almost skip past items in your order to save money? They have inconsistent amount of toppings each time. More butter today much less tomorrow. Tones cream cheese barely any next week. The prices are very very high for umm next to nothing. Don't get me wrong I enjoy their food. But I'm always still hungry after spending 18$. We the People are asking you to make bigger bagels, or cut your prices a bit. Takes me a whole hour to pay for breakfast here only to be hungry still. Just saying I'll come back once more and that will probably be it. I can't justify the price for next to nothing. Place used to be AMAZING. Used to be. Used to be. Used to be. Not any more. Even ordering thru Uber y'all never get the order correct. I'm not impressed any more. Do a better job please. 3 years ago
So it's been 3 years since I've been back. Ordered a everything bagel with egg salad, and a marble loaf of bread. Paid like 18$ and I'll have to say didn't feel like it was worth it, yes they gave me 2 free cheap little cookies I enjoyed, but there was like no everything bagel seasoning on it, was rather hard not that I think it was a day old or anything, the egg salad was only in the centre of it. Just feel I paid a lot for not very much. I'll have to wait another 3 years and try again. Everything tasted wonderful as they always have.
