Unfortunately, our experience at Barley Mow in Almonte left a lot to be desired. Despite it being a nice day, the patio was closed simply because it was wet—and no one made any effort to dry it off or open it up.
Inside, our food arrived cold, and no one came by to check on us after it was served. I eventually had to go into the kitchen myself to find our server, where I discovered the entire staff gathered. After a long wait, we did receive warm food, but there was no apology or offer of a discount for the delay or cold meals.
The server partially cleared our table and said she’d be right back—then disappeared again for quite a while.
This location sadly doesn’t live up to the standard set by the Barley Mow in Stittsville, where the service is attentive and the food is consistently excellent. I’ll be making the drive to Stittsville next time.

The white sangria was perfect on the warm summer day yesterday. Food and service were ok but the atmosphere was amazing in Almonte.

10/10 experience! We were on a road trip with 2 dogs and got hungry at about 9:30 so we stopped and asked if the kitchen was still open. The full menu wasn’t available but they had a late night menu. The patio was empty but they let us eat there anyways with the dogs. They were very friendly and accommodating, the patio was beautiful, and the portion sizes were enormous! I would recommend splitting the nachos between 3 people ideally.

Our first stop in to Almonte and we were feeling peckish so we checked out The Barley Mow. So right off the bat, the place is right on the water with ample of indoor and outdoor seating. They are partnered with 1000 Islands Brewing Co so not only are there plenty of options on tap, but they have flights available. There are daily specials available plus happy hour from 2-5pm so my pint of Radler was $4! I tried the fish tacos and congrats guys, first time I’ve really enjoyed fish tacos! The fries were delicious as were the donuts for dessert. We were served by Lynne and she was friendly, outgoing and attentive.

We were walking in the parking area when either an employe or the owner drove aggressively through the parking, honked at us to move (even though we were not in the way) in an empty parking lot at 8 a.m. in the morning. Great way to start your morning off in Almonte. We know this person works here as they where opening up shop while still talking back at us.

Every time I'm in the area I try to time it so I can have lunch here. Good food, good service and the atmosphere is cozy. It's even better once the patio is open. Great views and unique building. Parking can be a bit problematic.
Very nice and fast service, delicious food, adequate prices, free board games. We really enjoyed our family evening in your pub.

Very cool atmospheric place. Magnificent kitchen. Soulful atmosphere. Super friendly and positive staff. Free board games. Nice price, even compared to not very expensive Ottawa. And very beautiful 2 towns around. A must visit, highly recommend!!!
