The food is very good. Every time I’ve eaten there I enjoy every bite. The flavours vary. The menu varies but it has some solid favourites as standard like the burger.
I’ve driven there for takeout which takes me an hour each way. Why? Because I like the food and supporting small businesses in quaint towns.
Alton is a hidden as is this restaurant.
It’s worth the road trip.

My husband and I went today for dinner. What a lovely hidden gem. I had the tenderloin and my husband had the beef rib. The food was outstanding, the service was excellent and the price was good. This will definitely become a regular spot for us. I highly recommend you try it out. Don’t forget to stop and pick something up from the bakery on your way out.

This little gem was stumbled upon at work during lunch a few weeks back and I must say we've become regulars and are never disappointed with there ready made bakery sandwiches and sausage rolls.... we've tried pretty much everything on display with no complaints and always leaving us satisfied and full. The service is great and the staff have been very accommodating to us. Big THANKS to the team there keeping the guys at Osprey extremely satisfied at lunch.... and also this isn't just a bakery it's a fine dining bistro.

Fantastic village bistro offering up big flavours and options more often found on a fine dining restaurant's menu. We came here for two nights in a row while staying at Millcroft Inn and Spa, and despite it being a weekday, needed to make reservations for dinner due to how busy it was, a testament as to how popular it is with both locals and visitors. It was fairly small on the inside, with some eclectic decorating, but the waitstaff were friendly and attentive enough. I did find it odd that when asked about food or drink recommendations, our waitress on one of the nights apparently had no preference as she hadn't tried most of the food, and instead based her recommendation on the specials only being served for a limited time. Would definitely recommend to anyone staying at the Inn, it's a 10 minute leisurely walk and we found it was very comparable food at a much lower price point.

Nice family owned restaurant and bakery. Cousy atmosphere, good food and great service with a smile. Great place to get lunch and then go explore the local Alton Mills art gallery or go hiking in the Forks of the credit. Great selection of local craft beers also. I would definitely come back with the summer when the patio is open.Parking: Parking ?️ is right around the corner 30 second walk.

Fourth time here. Was hoping for a nice meal to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Quality or preparation of the food has went downhill. Crab cakes were mushy and cold. Steak was okay, however didn’t have the correct temperature. Sticky toffee was lathered in burnt toffee sauce. Server took it off our bill but what’s $10 when the entire meal was underwhelming. Also the entire place smelt like vinegar to the point where they were airing out the place by opening the windows. Do they not think of how that impacts peoples dining experience? I used to highly recommend this place, but now it’s a no go.
