It’s such a shame. It was the place we rushed too as a kid first thing Saturday morning going to the cottage to get chocolate chip cookies and other great bakery treats. Went early on a Saturday with a line waiting behind us and when the store opened felt like there was very little inventory. Some cinnamon buns, scones, muffins and donuts. They didn’t have any chocolate chip cookies which I would have bought easily 2-3 bags or brownies. The employees were great. We settled for donuts and cinnamon buns which were tasty just disappointed they didn’t have what we were hoping for.

My family and I have been going to Don's for almost 60 years as a child going was a highlight of our cottage vacation. Waiting in the cramped store with out number on a little plastic card while staff behind counter called out numbers to a packed store. The smells of freshly baked goods filled my nose seeing the trays of baking being brought out as empty trays were removed. Hoping that what you wanted so bad would still be there when our number was called. The ladies boxing thd fresh tarts buns brownies donuts and cookies. It was magic. I was so disappointed our last visit. Self serve plastic containers of mass baked products that lack the home made taste freshness and quality. To those who never experienced Don's in the early 70's I feel sorry for you. What you are experiencing is a mere residual of the past. I am very disappointed it seems nothing stays the same.

Blueberry pie barely had any blueberries in it. You need to stop being cheap and put more fruit in your pies.

Cinnamon buns are terrible. They were always terrific. But now there is zero reason to buy them. Cheap hunks of dough.

You have to go early to get any sort of selection.. prices are extremely high... nothing special here...

On a long weekend only two girls on shift with 30 people lined out the door. I was first 20 at 8:30 . They ran out of chocolate donuts and was told come back. Girls working cash and serving items not sanitary. Need cash just for those getting bread and scones . Several people in line frustrated that i spoke too. Liked old bakery lay out better. I was there 25 minutes .

Bought a sour dough bread that was so sour it was inedible challah was dry and burnt on one end brownies were dry (previously frozen but presented as fresh ) we are a 22 year long customer but so disappointing now

Bala Bites are the quintessentially donut. No other sour cream donut I’ve ever had compares. Worth a trip for the donuts alone!

The apple fritter is the most amazing donut I've ever tasted! I absolutely recommend going to try it. Prices are also reasonable.

Great place in Bala to get bread and other baked goods. My fiancé loved the feta quiche, I loved the chocolate glazed donuts(or what they call bala bites).

The ladies were great. And the Maple donuts were delicious. My wife says it’s probably the best donut she’s ever had. The apple fritter was also amazing. Thanks ladies.

We had the pleasure of trying Don's Bakery Muskoka Kaiser Buns from our local Food Basics in St. Thomas....and they were the best Kaiser's we every tried, soft, fresh, great quality and great pricing. They freeze very well, and are as fresh as the day we bought them upon defrosting. We use online grocery ordering, so buying something like buns is like walking through a mine field, you cannot squeeze the package to check for freshness or quality. We have ordered kaiser's from other stores in our town, and they were terrible. Some of them were so hard and inedible, they could have been used for hockey pucks at the local arena....we plan to try the onion hamburger buns and scones with our next order....hoping our store manager brings in more of Don's products other than buns...they are amazing and priced right.

If in Bala you definitely have to stop in and order anything and everything!!! I have loved everything I have eaten from Don’s!
