For The Halibut Fish & Chips

For The Halibut Fish & Chips is the best! I have had the York River Special, the Halibut Dinner, the Battered Mushrooms and the Clam Chowder, just to name a few items on the menu. Every meal I've had, has been amazing. I highly recommend stopping in and enjoying the best seafood in the Bancroft and surrounding area. The staff are wonderful, the food is spectacular and the prices are great. While I haven't tried everything on the menu yet I have made a dent in it. If you want a great meal at a good price, stop in and give them a try.

First visit to Bancroft and had heard about For the Halibut. Very friendly & fast service. Good sized portions & very reasonable prices. Great Halibut and loved the fries.

Lovely food and service at this restaurant. The clam chowder was really yummy! Also very friendly staff working there.

Vegetarian options: They had veggie options despite being a fish and chips shop! Some fried mushrooms I think.

Visiting Bancroft for the rally and decided to stop in here for lunch. The lady taking our order was friendly and walked us through the menu. We ordered coconut shrimp, fish tacos, and two separate orders of the York fish and chips. The food was soo good, we were all raving about it to each other.

The waitress was attentive and friendly. The view was nice. The music was good. I highly recommend.

Best fish n chips in all of Ontario, I swear. If I had the money, I could eat here everyday. Service is so loving, the atmosphere had great background music. It felt as comfortable as having a dinner my aunt made. I felt like I was at home. I will recommend this place for an endless amount of time.

The fish was cooked perfectly, nice and flaky and the batter was a perfect crispness and texture. Doesn't have that greasy taste most places have with their batter.

Amazing location, awesome experience!
Definitely recommend trying the pickerel for that flakey texture and fishy aroma. Ended off our meal taking in nature sipping out drinks in Muskoka chairs.

Lovely hostess greeted us and told us all about the menu.Cute, charming interior but on this beautiful fall day we sat outside to enjoy the fall colours and the river running behind the restaurant. Fish and chips gets 5 stars from all 4 of us including picky 10 year old.The outside of the building looks like it could use a power wash and they might need a new roof but we appreciate their focus on great food

Wife and I were travelling to see family and we made a point of it to stop in Bancroft and try out this hidden gem.
The flavours and value here are amazing. Fish has a nice rich batter which is fried to a golden crispy perfection. The fish itself was fresh and flakey. The fries REALLY stood out. They were crispy and golden on the outside yet soft, fluffy and warm on the inside.
The only thing I would keep in mind is that everything is made to order. So please be patient for this fantastic meal.

Parking: 4 or 5 parking spots on site that I could see but there may be more. Probably plenty of options to park nearby.

Kid-friendliness: Small kids menu and a cute "small fry" door to get inside.

Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp up to the main entrance.
