We were so incredibly happy with our wedding cake made by Cakes By Design. We were actually not planning on having a wedding cake as we heard they were quite expensive, but after my mom ordered my bridal shower cake from Cakes By Design (and it was the best carrot cake I have EVER had) we were sold. When we did our tasting, my husband and I fell in love with the vanilla confetti flavour. Not only was the price SO reasonable but they made our cake exactly how I envisioned it. It was a beautiful, vintage heart shaped cake. We are still getting compliments on this beautiful (and TASTY) cake. If you are unsure of whether or not to get a wedding cake, a Cakes by Design cake is absolutely worth it! Thank you so much for being a part of our special day!

I've ordered from here a few times now and each time the ordering process, service and cake has been amazing!! Recently I ordered a cake for my daughters birthday on January 3rd but due to the holidays Cakes by Design was closed and we had to pick up her cake on December 24th. We froze her cake and followed the steps Cakes by Design told us to do to unthaw it- it unthawed beautifully and was still soft and moist on the inside!!!

It was alright. I got the 1/2 pound brownie with Oreo. It’s interesting because it’s extravagant but I didn’t really find it had much flavour wise. The shop smelled delicious like gingerbread though, might be better if you try the actual cakes but based on this I wasn’t really a fan and not really interested in finishing the dessert.

There certainly is a trend with the customer service complaints in the reviews. What happened to the friendly bunch from the old location? Take a few seconds with your customers. Asking for a receipt isn’t something to be snarky about.

We are new to Barrie and were nervous to try a cake shop up here, I’m so glad that we did! Usually decorative cakes aren’t a hit at our European family parties, this whole cake went and guests were even asking to bring some home! We are so impressed with the quality of this cake, it was delicious and beautiful! For reference it was red velvet with cream cheese icing, pricing was fair and actually cost the same as it would have from our usual cake bakery in the city.
The customer service was excellent, the ladies on the phone and in person were lovely! Will definitely be ordering from them again!

We've been getting our cakes for special occasions from here for about 5 years now. Each one has been customized to perfection, and each flavour we've tried has been amazing! We've never had a single issue, and absolutely highly recommend Cakes by Design. (And their shortbread cookies are delish as well!).

I have them do my kids cake yearly and they never disappoint. I had red velvet on top and strawberry swirl on the bottom. The guest loved it and was asking me where I got the cake from. I would definitely recommend them.

Awful customer service! Before the owner comes back and say i didn’t place any order with them; let me be very clear. My friend did!! I paid half of the money you charged her. We were celebrating her birthday, all 13 of us were shocked and disappointed at the same time that you couldn’t wait 10 extra minutes past your closing time for us to come grab her birthday cake. Do not recommend them!!

She paid it yes! It was our money though. We are accepting our mistake. We are not running away from it. All the 1 star reviews are legit and are in regards to poor service only. Where you couldn’t wait 10 mins! That’s what’s awful. We never refused pay. She offered to pay extra for 10 min We were all very excited to have a cake from your place as someone on social recommended this. Again- NO REVIEWS ARE FAKE. All are legit. All of us were disappointed. And all of us have a right to post a review.
