I recently visited Evviva Halal Breakfast in Barrie, and I want to begin by saying that the space itself is absolutely stunning. The design, ambiance, and overall vision are beautiful, and it is clear that a lot of thought went into creating an impressive environment.
That said, I would have loved to see that same level of care reflected in the service and attention to detail.
When placing my order with our server, whose name started with N, I was asked how I like my eggs, and I requested over medium. I also specifically asked for my bacon extra, extra crispy, as I enjoy a very crunchy texture. Additionally, I ordered an organic mint tea.
Unfortunately, when the food arrived, it felt as though those requests were not taken into consideration.
When the food arrived: • The eggs were over easy and very runny instead of over medium as requested.
I don’t believe I was asking for too much. I was simply answering how I like my eggs when I was asked. It made me smile to think that if this were a steak order and I had asked for medium, but it arrived well done or very rare, most people would agree that something got lost along the way.
• The bacon was chewy and pale, not extra crispy, and appeared undercooked and unappealing. • The organic mint tea never arrived. • No one checked in (or after a few bites) after the food was served at all to see how everything was or if anything was missing.
I understand that the meal came out quickly, but that speed seemed to come at the expense of care and attentiveness.
I come from a hospitality background, and I strongly believe that guests should feel heard, respected, and taken care of. Unfortunately, that was not how this experience felt. I did not feel acknowledged or valued as a guest, which was disappointing given how thoughtfully designed the space is.
Evviva has so much potential. The environment is beautiful, but service is what makes a place memorable. I would encourage the team to reconnect with the vision behind Evviva, what sets it apart and how guests should feel when they walk through the door. During our visit, the experience felt more focused on presentation than genuine hospitality.
I hope this feedback is received in the constructive spirit it is intended, and that future guests get to experience both the beauty of the space and the warmth of attentive service.
