Anyone that's from Barrie knows that you cannot get halibut any better than fancy's .. I know a lot about the busness as I worked there years (about 40 years ago) .. They were owned by the originals that started fancy's as a fish & chip truck in painswick .. The service was great, extremely friendly and a great family owned spot. We got 3 orders of halibut and chips, the batter was crispy and not too thick, the fish tasted very fresh, the chips were that great chunky chip truck style and the coleslaw was great (a bit heavy on the sauce but really good nonetheless). This is going to be our regular spot for fish and chips.
I went for lunch today and ordered the 5 oz Halibut with fries and coleslaw. The size of the fish didn’t seem right to me compared to the price!! I double checked with the server to ensure that no mistake was made, she confirmed that it was the right weight/size. Taste is great, yes, but for paying this price I can go somewhere else in the same city where I can enjoy the food and have a filling meal as well!! I was a bit disappointed!
