Absolutely amazing experience at Homestead Bakery in Barrie! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the warm smell of fresh bread and a welcoming atmosphere. Everything tastes incredibly fresh and homemade — you can truly tell they care about quality and craftsmanship.

The pastries are perfectly baked, the bread has that authentic, rustic texture, and their coffee pairs beautifully with it all. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick treat or picking up something special for home, you won’t be disappointed.

The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they do. This place is a gem in Barrie — highly recommend!

I used to love Homestead, but today they ruined it for me, I asked gor multi grain and I got overly toasted normal bread. Portions are way less. Bacon is burnt. Not Happy. It was $14.00. Not worth it.

I am genuinely disgusted by the conduct of the staff and management at this establishment. I have been a longtime customer of Homestead, but today will be the last time I ever step foot there.

When I walked in to place an order, I saw staff arguing with a man. At first, I didn’t understand what was happening and instinctively sided with the workers (especially as someone who has worked in restaurants and cafes before). However, it soon became clear that the man was simply trying to purchase a hot chocolate for a homeless woman.

I was shocked to learn that the cafe apparently has a policy prohibiting customers from buying food or drinks for homeless people. I have never encountered such a policy before, and I find it deeply cruel and dehumanizing.

After the man left, staff began speaking about him mockingly, saying he “should take her to his house and make her hot chocolate instead.” Shortly afterward, one of the employees called the police on the homeless woman.

This experience was appalling and profoundly disappointing. I cannot support a business that enforces policies like this or treats vulnerable people with such disregard.

We love this coffee shop. The vibes are amazing and the food as well. Im glad we walked in…definitely our favourite spot in Barrie!

Excellent bakery, wish they used organic flour in their products, or at least offered Organic bread. I would be happy to pay premium for it.

This morning my friend and I had eggs Benedict for breakfast. We both got food poisoning. We feel really bad and cancelled all our plans for the evening.
Also it is sooooo cold inside.

Wonderful bakery and cafe. The aged cheddar sourdough bread was warm and fresh. Paired with an Americano to go. Service is always outgoing and friendly as it was today. Best to go in the morning for the best selection. Like a true fresh bakery, the popular items go quick!

Hubby and I stopped by this morning for a small breakfast and latte; left with jam and some rubs as well.

Service was great and food was even better. We will be back.

Must try: Almond croissant amazing, almond lemon cookie and the breakfast Sandy.

The bread and baked goods here are delicious but really expensive. I'm not sure it is worth the premium paid. I had a coffee here and sat in the dining area. It is a bit weird how the tables are laid you and you always get a cold blast of air every time the door opens which makes things uncomfortable when you are trying to enjoy your meal.

Mike and his team of front-of-house servers reflect the spirit of this happy place to enjoy sour dough compliments to a great menu. And Montreal bagels from St Viateur!!

I was at Homestead Artisan Bakery + Cafe about a week ago with my sister. Loved the cafe. It was very inviting and homey. It reminded me of cafes I would visit with my mom in Unionville. I had a london fog and pain au chocolate. Both were awesome. The service was also top notch. I will definitely be back again. Highly recommend it for anyone who would like a coffee and treat. I'm looking forward to trying the breakfasts.
