We had burgers. Nothing to write home about. We decided to treat ourselves and have their star dessert..deep fried ice cream. What a mistake. We have had this elsewhere before and it was amazing. Not this one. It came out stone cold. Yes, ice cream is suppose to be cold but this was not deep fried…so the whole thing was frozen. What a disappointment.

On Sunday, my sister and I stopped into Lonestar in Barrie for lunch while out back-to-school shopping. The restaurant was almost empty, so we expected quick service and a nice meal. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from start to finish.
We ordered beef tacos (substituting fries for Caesar salad, which they do not carry), mozzarella sticks as an appetizer, queso with the complimentary chips and salsa, and iced teas. The mozzarella sticks arrived after a long wait (nearly 45 minutes) and were extremely greasy, falling apart, and poorly prepared — more like panko crumbs with seasoning than actual mozzarella sticks. The dipping sauces also tasted off.
When our tacos arrived, they were inedible: cold tortillas that were not heated, completely soaked through with grease, and impossible to pick up. Our queso never arrived at all. Service was inconsistent; different servers dropped off each item, while our waitress spent most of the time talking with coworkers behind the bar.
When we addressed the issue, we asked to pay for only what we consumed (the iced teas and mozzarella sticks). The bill was incorrect twice, initially charging us nearly $60, then still including tacos we had returned. Only after further correction was it resolved. Meanwhile, the staff behind the bar were snarky, laughing and staring, which made the situation uncomfortable.
Overall, the food quality, service, and professionalism were very poor. We left disappointed and won’t be returning.

Can’t rate the food, order was never put through the kitchen, waited over an hour and our server didn’t provide water, I had to go to the bar to get our water! After seeing other tables served and we haven’t received our dinner, we left, waiter stated there was issues with the tablet connection so our order was never put through! Service was not good! It wasn’t even a busy evening!
Well here goes. It’s been a few years since we went to Lone Star Barrie and there was a reason for that. This was almost a carbon copy of why we didn’t come back. But hey who knows right? Maybe they sorted their shit out….nope. Took my daughter for lunch who was passing through town - and she wanted to go here. It was 1440 ish We get there and it’s EMPTY - must of been wing day or something as two creatures were smashing around 100 wings in the bar area. We get seated next to them - right next to them. Not a table away nope. Right next to them. In an empty restaurant. Ok. Strike one. We get seated and sit there 10 mins or so before someone comes over and asked us about drinks. Two diet cokes please. 10 mins or so later the drinks come. It’s now 1510. Guess what - the dude says oh yeah. Sorry it’s past 3 so you can’t get the lunch deals and proceeds to take the lunch menus. We had a conversation about how we’ve been sitting for over 20 mins waiting. He say he will “try” to get the lunch offers ok’d. Strike 2. Order. I get some burger thing and fries. Kiddo get chicken fajitas - their speciality apparently - nope. 35 mins later rhe meals arrive. The destroyers of wings leave and they seat another couple directly next to us. Dude had the same look I did as he scanned the empty restaurant.
Burger was just ok. Fries were barely warm and had the sad look of heat lamp syndrome.
Fajitas - I’ve had fajitas from lone star Ottawa and Kingston - amazing. These were the most pathetic attempt at fajitas I’ve seen in my 52 years on this planet. Barely warm. 4 shells, 90% onion for vegetables. The cheese has some whitish glow to it. Kid ain’t happy but we are on firm timings soShe pecks away and leaves about half. For 26.99. lol. A total joke. Bill comes and she was charged extra for more sour cream blah blah blah. Pathetic. Just pathetic. It was dead quiet and barely warm food? FAIL.
Go to Great Canadian Brewhouse / Score pizza / or some other option within eyesight.

The chicken strips were under cooked and like rubber and super greasy, and they were hand made I don’t believe
I had a empty glass for almost 25 mins and the server never asked me if I wanted a refill

I use to love this place, went all the time with the family. Then bad customer service made me and my family boycott it. Miss it , but you can't treat good customers like crap.

Spanish rice was luke warm. Something everytime we go there is luke warm. There was a lot of dust and cobwebs on the light fixtures above our table. Service was terrible slow. They ran out of diet coke, so we were offered coke zero which tasted like watered down icecream. Asked for a fresh glass, which tasted better, so I really question the cleanliness of my first glass. Will not go back there.

We visited for a birthday celebration and arrived around 5:15 pm to a quiet dining room. After settling in and reviewing the menus, we placed our order for both food and drinks. Our meals arrived within 15 minutes, which was promising.
However, things quickly went downhill. We asked our server to refill four of our drinks, and she assured us she'd be right back. Instead, we didn’t see her again for another thirty minutes. When she finally returned it was to clear our plates. By then, the untouched empty glasses had become a symbol of the service we didn’t receive.
The kids’ meal arrived with a bizarre mystery sauce that none of us could identify.
In the end, we skipped dessert and took our celebration elsewhere.

This has been our family choice for a night out as the food is always great for us. Service is always friendly too. We had a 9 people group so we appreciated that waitresses patient with us.

Tried the patio on a Sunday night. The restaurant inside was not very busy at all. There was a line of people waiting for a seat on the patio, but no one was around to seat anyone.
While on the patio we noticed someone had painted it, but they seemed to have more on the glass than the wood.
The restaurant was sold out of wings, so Taco salad it was. The meat in the salad was very greasy... Anyway, the bartender that was also the server for the entire Patio was run off her feet.
Maybe it was just a bad day, but it looks like this location is becoming run down...
New menu though.

We had a great lunchtime experience at Lonestar! Courtney was our server and she was so friendly and attentive—really made us feel welcome. We ordered the shrimp tacos (absolutely delicious!) and the chicken fajitas, which came out sizzling and full of flavour. The queso appetizer and chips and salsa were also great. Everything was hot, fresh, and so tasty. We left full and happy. We'll definitely be back!

Had an incredible dinner at Lonestar and can’t say enough good things about it! From the moment we sat down, our waitress—Snake Bite (yes, that’s really what she goes by!)—made the experience unforgettable. Her upbeat, positive energy was contagious, and she went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of. You could tell she genuinely enjoys what she does.
The food was just as impressive. Everything came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. They were super accommodating with food allergies too, which made the whole meal stress-free and enjoyable. It's not always easy to find a place that balances great food with that level of care and service.
Huge kudos to the kitchen and especially to Snake Bite for making our night so memorable. We'll definitely be back!

Funny we came in with 2 families including 6 children. We waited about 10-15 mins nobody came to serve us. No acknowledgement that we were there. We spotted multiple staff that were busy with other tasks but didnt care about us being there. Have a good guess why we werent taken seriously or bothered to be served but no one should feel this way at a restaurant. No one even asked why we were leaving shows how much this restaurant cares. This experience ruins the brand for us. No more lone star for us.
